I pushed the door into Damon’s office open and slowly walked in, I was putting on a body fitting Black turtle neck gown which reached down to my ankle and then slitted up by the side up to my thigh, I paired it with a matching Blue blazer jacket
on a cute black chunky loafers with gold accents and a black clutch purse.
His lips stretched into a small smile as soon as he saw me, he slowly let go of his laptop which he seemed to be working on previously and slowly leaned into the chair subconscious cracking his knuckles in the process. I slowly made my way
towards his table and immediately I got to him I took my seat in front of him.
“You look nice,” he whispered his lips still stretched into a smile, I rolled my eyes to the back of my head and adjusted in the seat making myself more comfortable.
“I know,” I replied, he chuckled lightly and sat up in his chair immediately.
“We are planning to sign a contract with DMW to handle the construction of our new office,”
“This is in a bid to get very close to them, and this is where you come in, by this project we’ll expose all of your mother’s evil
doing”
“DMW might want to discard it, you have to help us pull the contract through,” he said, my lips curved downwards and I nodded slowly,
“It’s a very wrong timing, BM corporation is on board and they would be channeling all their resources to them,” I said to him, he exhaled deeply and slowly pushed his chair backwards getting up, he walked towards me and sat by the edge of the table right in front of me and I slowly leaned back into my seat to create space between us.
“You’re COO now right?, you should be able to do something about it, I have to be working really closely with them to be able to do anything,” he said, I stared at him in the eye and he stared at me right back, I really hope I was doing the right thing, I haven’t really sat back to think about what it is I am really doing with Damon, but I knew that the quicker I get my family to pay for their wrongs to me the better for me and the quicker I can start my life again peacefully, that’s if there’s more life for
- me.
“Okay, I’ll do something about it,” I replied, his lips broke out in a smile as he gently pushed himself off the table and and
walked back to his seat,
“I just knew I had such an effect on you!” He said as he took his seat on the chair, I moved my head back slowly and dimmed my eyes at him, he wasn’t even anywhere in my thoughts when I made that decision, bold of him to assume it was his proximity to me that made me agree to do something about it, his cologne deep down my nostril might have contributed to it
though.
I scoffed at his words and shook my head slowly,
“What about Daphne,” I asked instead and he shrugged stretching out his palms,
“I don’t know, about, doing stuff,” he replied and I nodded slowly at him,
“How is your fiancée though,” he asked, I scoffed and picked up my purse signalling to him that I was about to leave,
“There’s no need to keep secrets, we have to be plain to each other so we can help each other,” he said and I slowly met with his eyes,
“My business with Novan shouldn’t bother you much, what we have in common is making my mother pay for her offense
towards us,”

“I’m not intruding in your privacy, you should keep the same energy too,” I replied and with that I got up from my seat and began to walk out of his office.
“You look stunning though!” He called out after me, my lips stretched to a very involuntarily small smile as I walked out of his office.
After everything Mother did to injure my soul, feeling bad for taking revenge on her should be the last thing I should be feeling right now, I’ve come to realize that I needed to repetitively say this to myself just so that I don’t lose focus.
My phone beeped in my purse, my movement slowed as I opened up my purse and took out my phone, it was a message from Collin I swiped up and opened it.
-Should I go ahead with your plans for Michelle?– the text read, I clicked my purse close and maintained my stride into the elevator, immediately the door went close I raised my phone up to my face, Michelle is my first target, I’m going to make her miserable before finally going for the big fish.
-Please do!– I texted back and he reacted with a thumbs up emoji I turned off the screen on my phone and dropped my hands beside me, one by one, here a little, there a little I’ll get back at every one of them.
My phone beeped again and I raised it up to my face, this time it was a message from Mom,
-Stop by the house for Dinner today, there are important issues on ground- the text read, I could almost predict what she had to say and a part of me wanted to refuse her in irritation.
All our conversation ends up in fight, just because she chooses to repeat the things I already said before that I wouldn’t do, it’s tiring but still a part of me wants to still go and hear out how frustrated her voice sounds when she speaks to me.
Without replying to her message I turned off the phone screen and walked towards the car park where I parked my car.
I got into my car and turned on the ignition the car engine roared but instead of coming to life it stopped, I twisted it again but it wasn’t even responding.
Christ! Just today that I did not step out with Collin this car wants to embarrass me, I twisted the key again but it wasn’t
coming on, I don’t even have the faintest idea on what I’m supposed to do next, I never really used a car so I don’t know how
I’m supposed to help myself right now.
With an exhale of frustration, I pushed the bonnet open and stepped out of the car, I pulled it open and supported it with the designated support, I just stared at the intertwined engine and everything in the bonnet my frustrations piling up, well if I don’t know anything I know one thing though, I pulled off my shoes and began to use the thick part of the sole to hit the battery head, after hitting it for a while, I put my shoe back on and walked back to the car, I tried to start it but it still wasn’t
coming on, I walked back to the bonnet with my hands on my hips,
“Car troubles?” I heard someone say really close behind me, I flinched lightly and slowly turned to see Damon behind me, I raised my brow at him and he stepped away immediately.
“Sorry,”
“What’s wrong with your car?!” He asked and I raised my shoulder in a small shrug.
“Apparently, I have no idea also, it just refused to come on,” I replied.
“Let me have a look,” he said, I stepped away from the car and he began to touch somethings in it, he turned to me and asked that I tried to start the car again, I tried to switch it on but it still didn’t work, he looked up at me and shook his head slowly.
“I’ll have my mechanic help you check it,” he said, I exhaled deeply in relief and nodded slowly, he took his phone out of his pocket and after a while I could tell he was already speaking to his mechanic.
“He’s not available now, until in the evening” he said to me after dropping the call, I had no more frustrating sigh in me to sigh I just nodded slowly,

“Thank you, I’ll do Uber,” I said as I opened my car took out my phone and bag from my car and slammed the door shut.
“Let me drive you home,” he said, I raised the corner of my lips in a sneer and slowly turned to look at him.
“Why in the world would I let a stranger drive me home?” I said to him, he chuckled lightly and stepped closer to me,
“We’ve come too far to still be called strangers, besides the Uber driver is more of a stranger than I am,” he replied,, I dropped
my hands as I stared at him, the guy has a point though.
“Fine!” I muttered and with that he took my car keys from me offering to give it to the mechanic before leading me towards his car, he held the door open for me to get in and the next few minutes saw us out of his company.
“You look good by the way,” he said as we drove, I slowly took my eyes off the road and turned to him with my full body,
“Mr Damon Brown, is there something else you’d like to tell me!” I said he just smiled as he turned the steering and took the
left turn on the road,
“What? Can’t I appreciate something good when I see it?!” He replied momentarily taking his eyes off the road and turning to
- me.
“Well not so repetitively, it’s cringe!”
“You can’t blame me for that Harper, you’re a very beautiful woman,” he said and for some reasons I was speechless, there was actually something about the way my name rolled off his lips, I knew if I said anything right about now I would stutter
so I simply swallowed my words and turned back to face the road, through the corner of my eyes, I saw his smile stretch
even wider as he stepped on the accelerator.
“Right turn please!” I directed barely above a whisper and my shameless voice came out hoarse. Christ!

“Thank you for dropping me at home,” I said to him as I stepped out of his car, he stepped out of the car also and walked up
to me.
“I’ll have the mechanic take care of your car and I’ll update you,” he said to me and I nodded slowly.
“Have a nice night,”
“You too,” I replied and began to make my way upstairs, I could still feel his presence and I almost forgot how to walk.
