Meanwhile.
“Please put a hold on that and attend to the file I just sent you,” I said to my secretary over the phone and with that I removed the receiver from my ear and slammed it against the board, with a deep exhale I sat up straight on my chair and gently drew my laptop closer.
My personal phone began to ring, I paused and stretched out to the far left of my table to pick it up, it was a call from Daphne, I swiped on the receiver button before answering it.
“We got a mail from DMW, they’d like to meet as soon a possible to discuss terms of service,” she said to me over the phone.
My lips stretched into a smile as I watched her take her seat in front of me, for a moment I never doubted Harper’s alliance with us and finally I can see all of my hard work over the years panning out successfully.
“What’s next,” I heard her ask softly, my grip on my phone tightened and I exhaled deeply.
“Just follow my step, one day at a time, that’s what’s next” I replied, I heard her hum a reply and then say she was going to get back to what she was doing and with that she dropped the call.
I carefully placed my phone on my table and folded my hands across my chest.
The fact that I was finally avenging my parents death made me feel a huge sense of fulfillment, for the longest time this had being my goal and now I finally get to get it over with and move on peacefully with my life.
My mind slowly drifted back to Harper, how she laughed when we were together earlier, how she threw her head backwards
and her face lit up with laughter.
I tried to get her face off my mind but I couldn’t just seem to do that, I could deny to others that I had I crush on her but I
couldn’t obviously lie to myself. Somehow I liked her delicate and almost naive character, I watched her from afar love
another guy who wasn’t deserving of her, I watched her love him so purely, I liked every inch of her then and even now when
she suddenly transitioned into sassy and strict, I like her even more.
It’s why I smile most of the times when she speaks, because I can’t help but still see the innocent and very gentle Harper in her when she speaks.
A small knock on my door interrupted my thoughts, after the knock the door slowly pushed open and my assistant walked
- in.
“Hi Lisa, how are you doing today,” I asked calmly as she approached me, her lips stretched into a small smile and she bowed
lightly,
“I’m very well sir,”
“The phone technician contacted me yesterday, I told him to reach out directly to you,” she said and I nodded slowly affirmatively, she nodded firmly and continued,
“I finally found the site of construction you asked me to look into, it has been completely renovated and it doesn’t look anything like the picture you sent, also I realized it wasn’t done by DMW,” She said giving me report of the things I’ve asked her to find out about, I slowly reclined in my chair and nodded slowly.
“Which company did the renovation?,”
“Kings&ko group,” she replied, my eyes dimmed as I slowly pushed my chair backwards and got up to my feet, I gently walked towards my shelf and drew out a file there before walking back to my table.

“King&ko? Isn’t that a subsidiary of DMW?” I asked folding my hands across my chest and she nodded slowly.
“Yes they are, I did a little background check and I realized that kings&ko privately became and affiliate to DMW nineteen years ago, the site was under locks for some months after several months, Kings&ko finally took over and built a resort there, the resort has been standing for more than ten years now, it’s also being renovated almost every three years,”
“Still by kings$ko?” I asked and she nodded slowly, I gently pushed my chair backwards and took my seat on it, if Kings$ko is
still in charge of the resort it means DMW is still seating on that case somehow, I’m very sure if another company took over
then, obviously they might not be able to cover up for this long. DMW is smart, I’m sure that’s why they swiftly signed almost dying Kings$ko.
“Would you like me to access any weak link in Kings$ko?” She asked and I shook my head slowly,
“You can find one, but when the time is right, I’ll let you know when to reach out,” I said to her dismissively and with that she
nodded slowly turned around and walked out of my office.
My phone beeped beside me, I gently reached out and swiped up the message icon as I took a seat on my chair.
-Hi, Just wanted to say thank you for earlier and also ask about my car- The text read, my lips stretched into a smile and I
swiped the keypad, just as I was about to reply her message I got another message and it was from the mechanic.
-I’m done with the car Sir,– I swiped his message icon away immediately.
-Not yet, just let me know when you’re about to get off work, I’ll pick you up-
-And don’t tell me not to worry because I definitely will!– I added immediately, replying to Harper, I took my hands off my keyboard, tapping my feet gently on the floor waiting for her reply.
-Okay, thanks!– She replied after some seconds, I waited for a few minutes for another reply but I got none, I exhaled deeply and dropped my phone back on the table. Oh this is going to be a long one.

“Are you really this incompetent or are you just plain daft!” I heard Daphne scream immediately I stepped out of my office.
Oh God! One very unlucky staff definitely just became prey to my sister, I stood infront of my office and stared downstairs, Daphne was holding a bunch of papers stretched out to the lady as she ranted angrily.
“You made mistakes with the flavours! What do you mean you made mistake with the flavours! If I was making stupid mistakes like that, this company would not be where it is!” She yelled and threw the papers in her face, the lady immediately bent towards the paper and began to pick them up, I let go of the railing immediately and made my way downstairs. At this point I’m considering sending her for therapy again, her bipolar nature is beginning to scare me, if I can question her well she might just say she randomly thought about mom and dad.
But honestly I didnt want her to always spiral out of emotion whenever she thinks about our parent.
“Why the fucking hell are you crying! You get paid to do your jobs so why are you crying! What gives you the right to cry huh!” She yelled and just as I got downstairs, before I could talk someone else beat me to it.
“I think she learnt her lesson already!” He said, everyone paused including Daphne and slowly looked up at who had just spoken. Ofcourse they knew better than to interfere when Daphne was brawling and sure enough the person who interfered
was a staff.
It was Collin, Harper’s assistant.
Daphne eyes dimmed at his presence and I watched as her facial expression softened as she watched him take long confident strides towards her, he grabbed her hands and slowly turned to look at the lady Daphne was yelling at.
“She won’t do it again, or would she?” He asked with raised brows, the lady in front turned packed up all the files and shook

her head immediately muttering no, I moved closer also and asked her to leave, she turned around and dashed away, I slowly
turned back to look at Daphne, she gently snatched her hands from Collin and stormed out.
“Can I speak with her?” He asked turning to me, I slowly turned to look at Daphne through the corner of my eyes as she
stepped out, there’s literally no harm in trying right, I’ve spoken to her every single day but there has been no progress so far,
maybe I somebody else can try, they both seem to be smitten by each other the first time they saw, who knows he might just
be the right person to help.
“Sure,” I muttered, I watched him turn around and walk away in the direction she left, I didn’t even remember to ask him what
brought him here in the first place.
Once he disappeared from my sight, I turned around and began to walk upstairs towards my office, I was tired of seeing
Daphne like that, and I definitely would take every help that might come her way.
