Meanwhile.
“Mr Brown! Mr Brown!” I heard someone repeatedly call as I got into my car, I looked up from the steering to see Collin walking hurriedly to catch up with me.
I slowly pushed the door open and stepped out of the car, I slowly tucked my hands into my pocket as he got to me.
“Please call me Damon,” I said to him, I wanted to smile at him but I really wasn’t even in the mood to smile.
“I’m sorry,” he muttered trying to catch his breath.
“I’m really sorry, I wanted to ask about Daphne, she wasn’t present at today’s meeting,” he said, I pressed my lips tightly against each other and nodded slowly.
“How is she doing, I said a lot of mean stuff to her,” he said, I shook my head slowly and reached out to him placing my hands on his shoulders,
“Actually those words needed to be said, Daphne is fine, she went back into therapy, she’ll be back when she’s better,” I said to him, he heaved a deep sigh of relief and nodded slowly.
“I know I might be pushing my luck, but can I see her?” He asked, I raised my shoulders in a shrug.
“That’s up to the both of you guys,” I said to him and he nodded slowly.
“Thank you so much, I’ll go in now,” he said, turned around and headed inside.
I watched him walk away, I wanted to ask him about Harper, if she was seeing someone or something or if she was even
bipolar.
I’ve tried to wrap my head the possible reason she might have behaved coldly to me today but I couldn’t pick it out.
But for some reasons I couldn’t ask, Collin suddenly stopped in his tracks and turned to me.
“Harper though, I think you should give her sometime, she’s trying to get her emotions in place” he said and with that he turned around and walked away.
“She’s trying to get her emotions in place” I muttered to myself as I gently pulled my car door open and got in.
Atleast she should have spoken to me about it or something, rather than just behave to me in the way that she did.
My phone beeped in my inner pocket signalling the arrival of a new message, I exhaled deeply pulled it out as I stepped on
the accelerato and zoomed out of the office.
It was a message from Lisa, I didn’t bother to open it, I was going to the office anyway.
I could not stop thinking about Harper, she wanted us to be formal? Thinking of it even made me more restless. Formal? How!
Later that Evening
“What’s going on? Why are you so quiet?” Mom asked, I could feel her and Daphne eyes on me, I slowly stabbed the steak I cut
with my fork and raised it up to my mouth.
I chewed on it slowly looking up to look between both of them.
“I’m actually fine,” I mutttered in reply.
“Are you sure? You’re usually not this quiet,” Mom said.

“Exactly! You’re the yapper” Daphne added, I turned to look at her and raised my lips up in a sneer.
Look who is calling someone else a yapper, I rolled my eyes and turned back to face mom.
“I’m good, just a little tired” I said to her, she stretched her hands placed it on mine and nodded slowly.
“Whatever it is, you know you can talk to me about it dear” she said and I nodded to her with a small smile.
How was I supposed to tell her that the reason I was sulking and moody was because a woman asked us to be formal. This is so frustrating, like I haven’t loved before.
“By the way, Collin asked of you today” I said to her, her facial expression slowly changed and she suddenly picked interested
on the food in front of her. 1
“Woah, who is Collin?” Mom asked, I chuckled lightly and turned to look at her.
“You’ll not believe that your daughter found love in the most random person, Collin works with Harper,” I said to her, her
features slowly broke out into a smile and she turned to look at Daphne.
“Really?” She muttered and I nodded my bad mood starting dissipate.
“He’s the obvious reason for her sudden change, only God knows what he said to her,” I added immediately, she reached out across the table and swatted my hands lightly.
“That’s not true mom,” she said, I raised my nose at her as I picked up another steak and chewed on it.
“I’m happy for you baby and I can’t wait to see him,” mom said to her and I chuckled lightly at that.
“Yeah that reminds me, what about Harper, she has been on my mind, invite her to dinner tomorrow evening,” Mom suddenly said, my smile wiped off my face immediately and I turned to look at her, just as I was about to protest, she cut me off,
“Don’t worry, I’ll reach out to her myself” she added immediately.
“You don’t have to do that Mom,” I tried to protest, she shook her head slowly as she packed up her plate, pushed her chair
backwards and got up.
“I just want all of us to have dinner, it’ll be fun don’t worry,” she said, I exhaled deeply with dropped shoulders.
“This is about Harper right?” Daphne teased, I rolled my eyes to the back of my head.
“When is your therapy starting?” I asked instead changing the whole line of discussion, I really do not want go talk about what happened with Harper today, maybe some other time.
“I see what you did there,” Daphne chuckled, I nodded with a small sigh as I pushed my chair backwards and got up also.
“Daphne leave me alone,” I muttered.
