What fiance? He’s just a scheming opportunist!
“Thank goodness my beloved found out about him cheating before the wedding, or she’d have walked straight into hell!
“Come on, James! Can’t you at least check your facts before you tell me? What if I were timid and stubborn at the same time? Wouldn’t that turn my love story into some kind of tragedy?
“You’re seriously trying to ruin my love life here, James!”
Liam typed furiously on his phone, almost gnashing his teeth.
Meanwhile, James was busy with work when he was getting bombarded with his younger brother’s complaints. His phone rang repeatedly, and when he finally picked it up, he couldn’t help but laugh in irritation.
He had, in fact, just double–checked everything.
However, it was also a fact that he had jumped the gun.
Suddenly, James thought of the perfect plan. The worst that could be said about it was that it was a little inappropriate, but there was nothing to fault him for if anyone asked. He decided to consider it as an act of standing up for his future sister–in-
law.
With that thought in his mind, James calmed down. Then, he put Liam on silent.
I had no idea about any of this back–and–forth between the brothers, of course. Instead, I made preparations to return home
with Liam
When all the arrangements were done, I boarded the plane once more.
This time, I wasn’t flying alone.
Meanwhile, Raine was going to the company bringing lunch for Bruno. Her pregnant belly was prominent.
Ever since the wedding was canceled, things between her and Bruno had been ice–cold. Aside from when it concerned the baby in her belly, they barely interacted at all.
Bruno wouldn’t even touch her in bed. Every time she asked, he would simply say he was busy.
To remind him of their love, Raine started bringing him meals three times a day. Even if he slept at the office, she would show up with food and her pregnant belly in tow.
Maybe it was because she was pregnant, but Raine had become especially sensitive about Bruno.
She put the meal she had prepared on his desk. When he didn’t even glance at her, she lost it.
“Bruno, have you ever actually cared about me? I’m carrying your baby! Can’t you even comfort me a little? Are you really in love with Aelia now? That’s not what you said before!”
Her incessant string of questions made Bruno rub his temples in frustration.
How had he never noticed how annoying Raine could be? She was nothing like the sensible Aelia!
But because of his baby, he forced himself to be patient.
“You know how busy I’ve been ever since Aelia transferred her money overseas. I’ve been working nonstop to fill the company’s financial gap, and I just managed to secure a new investment. Of course I need to focus on this project! Can’t you be a little understanding?
“As for Aelia, I have to marry her. If I don’t, I’ll be seen as ungrateful. The company’s major shareholders are already acting
against me. Can’t you see how hard this is for me?”
