Rained couldn’t care less about any of it, and she simply asked, “So, when all this is done, you’re not going to marry Aelia, right?”
She needed to become Mrs. Russell. Only that would make her feel safe!
Bruno’s face turned cold. “No. Why can’t you be more like Aelia? Even when you paraded our affair, she ignored it. Why can’t you just ignore the fact that I’ll marry her? Not to mention, you’ve been the mistress for years! Does a title even matter at this point?”
He was going to marry Aelia, no matter the cost.
Raine’s eyes widened in anger, her hands shaking. “Mistress? She’s the mistress! I was with you first! We were together first!”
Bruno took a deep breath to suppress his annoyance. “I broke up with you, remember? You’re the one who refused to let go, and you said you didn’t care.”
At that moment, his phone rang. It was the private investigator.”
“Mr. Russell, Miss Lawson is back in the country.”
Excitement flashed across Bruno’s face. He felt certain he could win her back.
He had been having the investigator follow Aelia’s movements this whole time, so he would be the first to know when she came back. That way, he could make it up to her.
But the issue with the shares still bothered him, so he decided to make her wait for a while.
With that, he waved Raine away impatiently. “Alright, go home already. Aren’t you embarrassed, walking around with that pregnant belly?”
He had never noticed it before, but now, he realized Raine was never in the same league as Aelia. She was even more clueless and annoying compared to Aelia, like some nagging wife.
When he was busy, Aelia never picked fights like Raine did.
Thinking about how wonderful Aelia was, Bruno felt a little pleased with himself. He completely missed the way Raine’s face became paler and paler.
A storm brewed in Raine’s eyes.
‘Aelia, why did you come back? Why can’t you just stay overseas forever? Fine! You forced my hand!‘
With that, Raine shot one last look at Bruno before turning around and leaving the office. Ignoring the whispers from the other staff, she headed straight for the hospital to get a checkup.
She needed to make sure she was healthy before she could start plotting her next move against Aelia.
