My surprised gaze instantly fell on Bruno.
Even the doctor was taken aback by the absurdity. He yanked Bruno’s hand off his collar and said bluntly, “Stop talking
nonsense”
With that, he turned and went back into the operating room. He was only coming out to deliver the message, anyway
I watched Bruno go mad, banging on the door to the operating theater. “Save the baby, you hear me?!”
Seeing him like this, I couldn’t help but ask, “Aren’t you a grad student? Where’s your common sense? By law, you always
save the mother first.”
Bruno froze for a moment, then looked at me lovingly.
“Didn’t you say you didn’t like Raine? As long as we keep the baby and raise it together, you’ll feel safe, right? If you want your child, we can have one as long as we get married. In the end, his is all your fault. As long as I don’t press charges, you’ll be fine. You have no choice but to marry me! Stop throwing a tantrum, okay?”
The smug look on his face, as if he had everything under control, was making it difficult for me not to laugh. I didn’t know what I should say to dispel the disgust inside of me. I had no idea where he got the nerve to say such things to me.
Before I could even find the right words, a sarcastic voice came from behind.
“Are you joking?”
It was Liam, who had arrived just in time. He smirked, and immediately started to humiliate Bruno.
“Enough with the act! You know perfectly well you can’t save the baby, so you’re trying to use this to win her sympathy. Well, I’m telling you right now that you can’t stop dreaming. Aelia doesn’t like you anymore now, and never will!”
Liam’s forehead was glistening with sweat. He was still in his racing gear, like he had rushed over so I wouldn’t be harassed. He even pulled out his phone and played up the footage.
Before Bruno could retort with a frown, Liam shoved the phone at his face, sneering.
“Honestly, you two are made for each other. One’s a woman who sets up another out of jealousy, and the other’s a man who throws away his own child and lover for money and power. You should stay together forever!”
The video was from the security footage from the event. Liam had taken it specifically before leaving to clear my name, so nobody could use what happened to smear me.
In the footage, one could clearly see that when Raine lunged at me, there was still some distance between us. I didn’t even
move.
Her fall had nothing to do with me.
Of course, the second half of the video showed Liam pulling me away.
Bruno acted as if he had found some leverage, and sneered
