Time passed quickly. It was only a few days later that I found out what was be..
said about me online.
Honestly, I couldn’t care less. Whenever something like this happened, money could be used to clear up my name.
Online gossip was full of smoke and mirrors. Who would truly keep paying attention to something so trivial?
Bruno’s attempt to use public opinion to pressure me completely failed, but his actions did provoke Raine.
Lying in her hospital bed, Raine read the news on her phone, gritting her teeth. In the end, she completely snapped and hurled her phone onto the bed, cursing, “Aelia! You killed my child, and now you’re trying to steal my man! I hate you!”
The nurse who came in to change Raine’s dressing just rolled her eyes. At first, she had almost believed Raine, thinking that Raine’s hatred was because Aelia had killed her child. Now, the nurse was sure Raine was just jealous, since Bruno didn’t love
her.
The nurse already knew about the online drama, so she was aware of their tangled relationships.
She had no comment about Raine’s behavior–just another fool blinded by love. She didn’t even bother to offer any comfort; she just quickly finished changing the bandage and left.
The nurse had no idea Raine, lying in bed, was brewing something terrifying.
Raine knew that as long as Aelia was around, Bruno would never marry her.
“Guess I’ll just have to ruin you, then. Don’t blame me… You’re the one who forced my hand, Aelia! If you want to blame someone, blame your own luck,” she muttered to herself.
During this time, even though Raine had lost her baby, Bruno still kept her around out of basic human decency. As long as she didn’t act out, she could have lived just fine.
Yet, Raine hated me to the bone. She hated everything I had.
The day she was discharged, she found a few thugs near a school and paid them a large sum, showing them my picture.
“Make sure you ruin her. I don’t care what it takes! If you make me happy enough, I’ll double the reward.”
Raine had thought it through. A woman’s innocence was everything. If they managed to get the act on video, who would dare
to call the police?
Those thugs were lowlifes. Pay them enough, and they would do anything. Raine barely had to convince them before they
agreed.
That very same day, they followed me.
At that time, I was on my way to meet Liam. He was hanging out with some friends back home. I was going to join him so we could head to the Carter family home together. It was closer that way.
As for why, it was because Liam had suggested we live together. However, I had turned him down every time. I felt like it was something that should only be done after marriage.
When I told him this, Liam agreed completely. So, he came up with a compromise.
He asked me to stay with him, his brother, and his sister–in–law. It wouldn’t count as cohabitation if the four of us were living
together, right?
