Chapter 18
Even so, Leroy never gave up.
He bought the hotel on this coast directly and stayed near Jolie’s house.
Since Jolie arrived here, she opened a small restaurant by the sea and business has been good. Especially during the tourist season, she was extremely busy.
She lowered her head and used the calculator to help the customer with the bill, her gaze unconsciously falling on Leroy in the corner.
For two weeks in a row, he said he wouldn’t disturb her life, but he came to her shop every day and stayed there all day.
That evening, after finishing cleaning up, Jolie finally couldn’t take it anymore. She walked over and tapped Leroy’s desk with her index finger, “Sir, we’re done for the day.”
Unexpectedly, Leroy chuckled lightly, stood up neatly, and was about to leave.
Jolie stopped him and said, “Leroy, what do you want? You keep hanging around here and not leaving. Are you neglecting your family’s business?”
After a long silence, he just frowned and said, “Jolie, it’s not very nice to drive away customers like you do. I just came here to eat, if you refuse, I will leave. I’m not causing any trouble or bothering you.”
Every word he said made sense, and Jolie was at a loss for words to refute him for a moment.

Jolie took a deep breath and suppressed the annoyance in her heart, “It’s up to you, do whatever you want.”
The next day, Leroy showed up at the store on time. Jolie was too busy to pay him any attention. Business was particularly good that day, with many customers keeping her busy and overwhelmed.
In the evening, someone suddenly found her in great anxiety, “Jolie, your sister is in trouble.”
Jolie jumped up and ran out, leaving behind what she was holding.
When she arrived, she saw a group of people gathered on the beach. Jolie pushed through the crowd, calling out Nikita’s name.
“Is that your child? Over there! She looked in the direction pointed by the passerby, her breath catching for a moment, almost collapsing to the ground.”
Nikita didn’t know how she fell into the sea, and was carried far away by a wave. She struggled and called for help in the sea, but her weak strength was no match for the forces of nature.
Jolie had only Nikita as her only relative, she didn’t even think, and plunged into the sea. The cold, salty sea water rushed into her mouth and nose, the suffocating feeling like an iron clamp strangling her throat, but Jolie ignored everything and swam frantically towards where Nikita was struggling.
Soon, she was exhausted. But she dared not stop, yet her calf suddenly cramped in severe pain, and the waves violently swept her into the water.
Jolie’s body felt as heavy as if it were filled with lead, constantly falling downward. Just as she was about to drown, a strong and powerful hand grabbed her, pulling her into an embrace.
The next second, Jolie was suddenly brought out of the water, gasping for breath.
Holding onto him was Leroy, the man.
He carried Jolie towards the shore while comforting her by pressing her forehead, “Jolie, you can’t go, you will die. I have sent someone to rescue Nikita. Listen to me, let’s get to the shore first before we talk.”
Jolie cried helplessly, pleading, “Leroy, save Nikita.”
“Okay.”
After they got ashore, Jolie looked around for Nikita’s figure. Suddenly, a small group of people on the shore burst into exclamations, and a man carrying the fallen Nikita walked up.
Seeing the newcomer clearly, Leroy’s expression suddenly changed.
“Kaeden? How did you end up here?”
