Chapter 2
I wasn’t done clarifying.
Tiffany abruptly cut me off, clinging to Derek’s arm and acting all coy. “Derek, I can give birth to a son for you. My illness has been cured. I have no problems birthing a whole soccer team for you.”
Derek pinched her nose lovingly and said with a low laugh. “You have just recovered from a serious illness. How could I bear to have you do that? You just do what you do and be a princess.”
After saying that, Derek looked at me with disdain. “Claire, Tiffany has been receiving treatment abroad for the past five years and has been suffering from illness. You, on the other hand, have only been competing with her, being jealous of her all the time, and not even saying a word of concern. Tiffany is the only one who is pure and kind to show concern for a cold–blooded and heartless person like you. She missed you and was anxious for me to return home to look for you. You simply don’t deserve her kindness.”
Listening to his words, I rolled my eyes speechlessly.
Over the past five years, I have received travel photos and private videos from Tiffany in my email every once in a while.
She always had a rosy complexion and a strong body in those photos. There was no way that she could have been sick at all.
Talking to them was a waste of time, so I just waved my trash tongs in front of me.
Tiffany stomped her feet and screamed.
Chapter 2
Derek eyed me from top to toe, covering his nose and backing away with disgust. “Look at what a disgrace you are now. You stink of garbage. What’s the difference between you and a beggar? What’s the point of pretending for five years? Now you have to crawl all the way back to me like a dog.
“Don’t think that I will remarry you just because you bring your kid to me. I don’t buy cheap tricks like that. I have decided never to want you back when you blocked me out of spite.”
My daughter was frightened by his tone and cried in my arms.
Derek’s expression softened as he reached out, trying to comfort her. “Don’t cry, I’m your father. Come home with me, don’t stay with this crazy
woman.
My daughter responded with even more intense crying. “Go away, you are not my father, you are a bad person who bullies my mom. I hate you!”
Derek was humiliated in public. The look on his face immediately darkened, and he looked at me with a cold gaze. “This is how you teach your child? She has no manners at all. Five years with you and she’s full of bad habits! The Walsh family will not recognize such an uneducated little bastard. Don’t show up in front of me until you teach her well.”
No mother can tolerate her child being scolded like that.
I clenched my fists in anger and said coldly, “You think too much. The child is not yours, and she has nothing to do with you.”
Derek was stunned for a moment.
Then he laughed out loud. “Claire, I see that you’re left with nothing but a mouth. Still pretending to be something, eh? It’s disgusting.
“Come on, you’ve ended up like this, so why are you still pretending? If

you still won’t lower yourself to beg me, then take this little bastard and get out of my sight!”
Derek took out some cash from his pocket and slapped it on my face. “Look at how poorly you and your daughter are dressed. Take this money to buy some nice clothes for yourselves. Don’t embarrass me.”
After saying that, he pulled Tiffany into his arms and walked away.
I lowered my head, looked at my dusty orange vest, and cursed him for looking down on me.
Derek didn’t know that the short–sleeved shirt I was wearing was a custom–made piece by top designer Krena. It was worth 25,000 dollars.
The seemingly ordinary cartoon jacket on my daughter was actually worth a lot of money as well.
I got remarried and had a child four years ago, so there’s no way I’d ever marry him again.
The exclusive ringtone of my cell phone rang, and I straightened myself. A man’s low and hoarse voice came from the other side. “Honey, you must have worked hard on the inspection. I have a lounge over there. You can take your daughter to rest there. Don’t wear yourself out.
“I miss you so much. My work isn’t done until the afternoon. I really want to see you soon!”
The noble and cold–sounding man acted like a big puppy on the phone, and a sweet feeling welled up in my heart.
After hanging up the call, I took my daughter to the door of the lounge and heard flirtatious moans coming from inside.
