Edwin froze for a moment, then looked at me in disbelief.
“Wait… what did he just call you? Aren’t you my girlfriend?”
Benedict Sullivan came over and gently put a recovery pill into my
mouth.
After swallowing it, I could feel my strength returning quickly. My injuries were healing right before my eyes.
I stood up and stared at the man on the floor, who was whimpering and begging. My voice turned cold.
“Isn’t Herminie your wife? You’ve already spent your wedding night together. Why are you still pretending she’s not?”
“Benedict?” Just then, Suzanne finally realized that the man beside me was none other than the Sullivan family’s illegitimate son.
People used to say his mother died giving birth to him. Not long after, it was discovered that he wasn’t actually a blood relative of the Sullivan family–he was the son of his mother and another man.
From that point on, everyone saw him as an outsider. Strangers avoided him, and even the Sullivan family treated him like a jinx.
Suzanne cried out, “Stop this nonsense! Edwin could die if we don’t act fast! He needs a pure–energy virgin, or he won’t survive!”
At this point, she had lost all pride. Her face was full of panic, and she looked like she was about to get on her knees.

“Agnes, please. Just this once. We’ll give you anything you ask for if you agree to help!”
“I’m afraid that won’t happen. Agnes belongs to me now.” Benedict said.
He wrapped his arm around my waist and stepped in front of me. The atmosphere around us instantly turned ice–cold.
Edwin’s voice cracked. “What? Since when did you…
“Agnes, you actually cheated on me behind my back? How could you be so heartless…” Edwin struggled to speak.
Halfway through his sentence, he coughed up a mouthful of thick, black blood. His face quickly lost all color.
I stared at Benedict, just as confused as everyone else.
Since when did I become his?
I thought we just had an agreement. I helped him stabilize his health with my medical skills, and he helped me solve problems with the Sullivan family.
Benedict gave me a sideways glance, then turned to the crowd and declared, “First of all, since you’ve already chosen to marry Herminie, Agnes has nothing to do with you anymore.
“Second, even if Agnes still has that pure energy, she doesn’t love Edwin. And without true feelings, even sleeping with her won’t cure him. Unless…”
He paused and looked over at me again.
I looked at the unconscious Edwin and replied in a calm voice,

Chapter f
“My family has studied medicine for many generations. I’ve treated
someone with a similar illness before. I was able to save him by using 49 special tools.”
But now… it was too late for that kind of treatment to work.
His body had already reached a point where the damage couldn’t be fixed. Edwin, who used to stand at 1.8 meters, now looked like a kid in middle
school.
What was worse, while his muscles and skin were shrinking fast, his bones remained the same size. His skin stretched tight over his body like a suit that didn’t fit.
If he doesn’t get the surgery soon, his body might burst open like a balloon popping.
Suzanne held onto him as he coughed up blood, wailing in despair. Her eyes locked on Herminie with a look full of hatred, like she could tear her apart.
Gerard suddenly hit her across the face. “That’s enough! He’s still alive. Why are you crying like he’s gone already?”
Realizing things were getting worse by the second, he ran to me and grabbed my hand tightly.
“Please, name your price! If you can save my son, I’ll hand over everything our family owns!”
I pulled my hand away.
It’s just an old and dying business. I’m not interested.
“I’m not interested in your business, all I want is…”

Before I could finish, Herminie rushed forward and blocked Gerard, cutting me off.
“Suzanne, don’t believe anything she says! Her family is so poor. How would she even have special tools? She’s just trying to trick you into giving her our money. Don’t fall for it!”
