Chapter 7
After listening to her, Gerard seemed to calm down and gave me a cautious look.
He asked, “Agnes, can you prove who you are?”
“If you’re that suspicious, then forget it. It’s not like I came begging you. You’re the ones asking for help.”
I rolled my eyes and started to walk off with Benedict.
Suzanne clenched her teeth, jumped in front of me, dropped to her knees, and pleaded.
“Agnes, Edwin is seriously dying. Please just give him a few shots to help him! I’ll pay anything you want!”
I thought for a second, then said, “It’s not completely off the table, but she…” I pointed straight at Herminie with a cold glare.
“She’s way too loud. You know what to do.”
Gerard didn’t hesitate. He kicked Herminie into a bucket of ice water.
He ordered, “Guard, shut her up and rip out her tongue!”
I said, frowning, “Hold on! I don’t care what you do with her later, but I don’t want to see any blood right now.”
Herminie looked at me in panic and immediately started begging for
mercy.

“Gerard, I was wrong. Please give me another chance! I’ll do anything, even be a servant for your family!”
“Make her shut up!” Gerard shouted.
He shot her a disgusted glare. He had no time for her drama, so he ordered someone to stuff a filthy rag into her mouth.
I grabbed the special tool Benedict had brought and stepped beside Edwin. The needle, thicker than a regular pen, was pushed straight into
his chest.
His whole body jerked from the pain, and he let out a loud scream.
“Ah! It hurts too much! I don’t want this treatment. Let me go!”
Too bad, he was completely restrained—his arms and legs stretched out wide. His body was so thin that it looked like his bones might rip through his skin, which was pretty disturbing to see.
I ignored him until the blood pouring from his chest slowly changed from a dark color to a bright red.
After that, I gave him a few more needles to stop the bleeding before turning away and explaining, “I’ve managed to ease his condition for now, but this is just a temporary fix. This is only the first step to a complete recovery.”
Edwin’s parents quickly ran over to check on him. They noticed that his face looked healthier and his eyes were more energetic.
Gerard came up to me, thanking me repeatedly.
“Whatever you ask for, our family will do everything we can to give it to you!”

As he said that, he nervously handed me a bank card.
288 Voux hers
“This has two million on it. It’s a down payment for treating my son. Once it’s all done, I’ll give you eight million more, and I’ll also grant you one favor.”
I looked at the people around me with a blank face and took the card. There was no point in getting emotional over money.
And honestly, even if I saved him, he’d be a useless person for the rest of
his life.
“Fine. Then let Herminie suffer for what she did to me.”
Everything I went through, whether in this life or a previous life, was because of her. If it weren’t for Herminie, my life wouldn’t have been so full of pain.
When Herminie realized I was coming for her, she shook her head again and again, fear written all over her face.
“No, please, Suzanne, Gerard! I’m your daughter–in–law. How can you treat me like this?”
Gerard, enraged by her defiance, struck her forehead with her cane and scolded her, “How dare you!
“You already have a child, yet you still dared to try to marry into my family? You must be a great liar to pull that off! Edwin hasn’t even gotten back at you for tricking him, and you still think you have the right to say
no?”
He didn’t waste any more time. He immediately told the bodyguards to tie her up and throw her into the well.
