Chapter 8
I watched it all with a cold stare and let out a long yawn.
“It’s getting late. I’m leaving now,” I said.
Suzanne noticed and tried to stop me. “Why don’t you two stay here? It’ll be easier to care for my son, and we’ll treat you very well.”
I smirked. “There’s no need. In three days, you’ll come to me and kneel down 99 times. Only then will I consider helping again. If not, don’t expect me back.”
Benedict chuckled as well.
“Why don’t we stay and let your son listen to us having a good time?”
By then, Edwin had gained back some strength. He got out of bed quickly, his face full of shock as he stared at me.
“Agnes, I thought you loved me. Why are you doing this on purpose? I can give you anything you want. Just come back, don’t stay with that illegitimate child!”
I pried open his fingers and spoke slowly, “I’ll never forgive what happened when I fell off that cliff.”
He froze on the spot.
Ever since he was reborn, he had almost completely forgotten about it. Now that I brought it up, it finally hit him how foolish he’s been.
He pleaded, “Please, give me another chance… I know I was wrong. I

I looked straight at him and replied, “If I could erase one thing from my life, it would be meeting you.”
Without another word, I walked off with Benedict, leaving Edwin calling after me.
Once we got into the Maybach, I let out a breath of relief. Everything I’d gone through recently felt like some kind of nightmare.
Benedict gently took my hand, a pout on his face. “He got way too close to you just now.”
I laughed lightly. “Are you feeling jealous?”
Before Benedict could respond, my phone rang. It was my mother calling.
On the phone, she was crying.
“Agnes, where are you right now?
“I don’t know what happened. I slept an entire day and night, and when I finally woke up, you weren’t there. I was so worried…”
Tears stung my eyes, and I spoke gently to calm her down.
“Mom, I’m on my way back now. I’ll be home really soon, so please don’t worry. Just wait for me.”
My father passed away when I was little, and my mother raised me all by herself. Thinking about everything she’s been through because of me made the anger in my chest burn even hotter.
Seeing how sad I looked, Benedict comforted me. “Don’t worry. I promise the Sullivan family won’t get away with this.”

The only reason we saved Edwin was to make them feel hope before we dragged them into complete ruin.
Once I got home, I spent some time talking with my mother and gave her a massage to help her relax.
She glanced at Benedict sitting nearby and asked with curiosity, “Who’s this young man?”
Benedict looked a little anxious, but I just gave a calm smile in return.
“Mom, he’s my husband,” I stated.
The following day, Benedict and I registered our marriage and shared our photo together on Instagram.
Not long after, Suzanne called, sounding a bit awkward.
“Please, could you do me a favor? Would you mind taking down your post? Edwin started coughing up blood again after seeing it…”
