With that, Silas grabbed Cassian’s arm and dragged him back into the hospital room, slamming the door in Ethan’s face.
Cassian stared at him, a sick feeling spreading through his gut.[]
Over the years, he’d spoiled Aurelia rotten, given her everything she’d ever wanted.[]
If there was anything he’d done wrong… well, it would have to be the baby.
But he’d been so careful back then. He’d made sure everyone involved was paid off and sent overseas where they couldn’t talk.]
There was no way Aurelia could’ve found out!]
Unless… was this about Verena?]]
Cassian’s heart started racing.
Okay, fine, maybe Verena had overstepped some boundaries lately. And yeah, he’d noticed Aurelia getting weird about it.[]
But in his mind, he’d never planned to replace Aurelia with Verena.[]
He just wanted to keep both women around, you know? Enjoy having them both fight over him…]]
Was Aurelia seriously going to divorce him over something that stupid?]
That was completely insane!
He’d only done what most powerful men did.[]
Hell, considering his position and wealth, he’d been practically a saint. One mistress in all these years? Aurelia should be grateful he wasn’t like other guys who had a different woman every week.[]
But instead of appreciating how good she had it, she wanted to throw away their marriage![]
How could she be so fucking ungrateful?]
The more he thought about it, the more pissed off he got.
He looked up at Silas, his desperation replaced by cold irritation.[]
“Look, Silas, since you’re here, let me set the record straight.“[]
“Aurelia’s being completely unreasonable about this whole thing.”
“I brought Verena in to help with Caleb. You know the kid was sick, right? Aurelia was exhausted from taking care of him 24/7, so I thought I’d get some help.“[]
“But Aurelia totally lost her shit about it. Refused to even consider it.”
“The thing is, Caleb really bonded with Verena, so I didn’t have the heart to send her away.”

“Are you telling me Aurelia wants to blow up our entire marriage over something that trivial?

Chapter 10
Silas sat there listening to this bullshit with an expression that was impossible to read.[]
After letting Cassian ramble for several minutes, he finally cut him off.[]
“Is that really what you think of my sister? That she’s some kind of drama queen?“]
“You think she’d ask for a divorce over nothing? That she wouldn’t have a damn good reason?“]
“Jesus, Cassian. You’ve been lying for so long, I think you actually believe your own bullshit now.“]
Cassian started to protest, but Silas wasn’t done.[]
“Here, take a look at these files. After you’re done reading, sign the fucking divorce papers.“[]
“Men, you’d better sign them now and save everyone the trouble. It’s over.‘
He tossed a thick manila folder onto Cassian’s lap.[]
Cassian picked it up with trembling hands and started flipping through the pages. His face went white.[]
“This can’t be right… You’re saying Verena kidnapped Aurelia behind my back? Beat her up? But the cops told me she got mugged!“[]
“Want to know if it’s true? Go ask your hot girlfriend. And while you’re at it, ask your son how he drugged his own mother and threw her into a basement full of poisonous snakes!“]
Silas’s smile was absolutely vicious. “Oh wait,
forgot–Aurelia isn’t his biological mom, is she? Verena is. Isn’t that right, Cassian?“||
Even though Silas was smiling, his words made Cassian’s blood turn to ice.]
Verena had kidnapped and tortured Aurelia behind his back. Then she’d convinced Caleb to drug Aurelia and leave her to die in that snake–filled basement.[]
And Aurelia had known all along that Caleb wasn’t really her son.
