Chapter 19
The next morning, when I came downstairs, I
saw Alpha Knox’s Beta and Octavia sitting in the living room. A Warrior was carrying Alpha Knox’s luggage out.
The Beta spotted me and greeted me politely,
“Good morning, Luna.”
I saw Octavia’s face drop instantly, so I replied
with a faint, mocking smile,
“Better start calling me Miss Hawthorne from
now on.”
“Your Alpha’s about to have a new Luna.”
Octavia looked flustered, her cheeks turning
bright red. She tugged at Alpha Knox’s sleeve, her eyes welling up.
“Alpha Knox, I’ll just wait for you outside.
“Miss Hawthorne must’ve misunderstood us…”
Alpha Knox wrapped his hand around hers and frowned at me. His voice was full of irritation.
“Beatrice, can you not be so passive–aggressive
Chapter 19
“We both made mistakes in breaking the mate
bond. Don’t take it all out on Octavia.”
“I’ve already compensated you. Don’t keep dragging this out!”
Octavia peeked out from behind him, trying to
look timid while flashing me a smug little smirk. Her words, though sugar–coated, were full of fake humility.
“Miss Hawthorne, I’m so sorry.”
“I just admire Alpha so much—I couldn’t help myself. I never meant to come between you
two.”
“If you’re angry, take it out on me. Please don’t
blame him.”
I stepped forward. And right there, under Alpha
Knox’s stunned gaze, I raised my hand and slapped Octavia hard across the face.
“Of course I’m not only blaming him.”
“If the cat’s sneaking scraps, sure, it deserves a slap. But a rotten fish? That needs to be thrown
out completely.”
Chapter 19
“When I’m mad, I don’t talk–I hit.”
Tears instantly welled up in Octavia’s eyes as she whimpered pitifully,
“Miss Hawthorne, if hitting me helps you feel better, then go ahead–just beat me to death.”
Alpha Knox quickly shielded her, his face full of rage as he grabbed my wrist. His voice was cold
as ice.
“Beatrice, don’t push it!”
“I’ll let it go this time. But if you ever lay a hand on Octavia again, don’t blame me for what I do
next!”
I yanked my arm free and shouted,
“Are you blind, Alpha Knox?
“Can’t you see she’s the one goading me?”
His lips pressed into a tight line, and he turned his face away.
Of course he saw it–he just chose to take her side.
Chapter 19
A bitter smile tugged at my lips.
The Warrior moved quickly, and soon, all of Alpha Knox’s luggage was out.
Just before leaving, he looked at me like he wanted to say something. After a long pause, he finally muttered,
“Beatrice… I’m sorry. If you ever need help in the future, you can come to-”
I waved him off, my voice sharp with disgust.
“If you really mean that apology, keep your mutt in check. Don’t let her bark wherever she pleases.”
“My daughter and I deserve a peaceful life–one without her in it.”
When he heard me call Octavia a mutt, a flicker of annoyance crossed Alpha Knox’s face, but he didn’t say another word.
Octavia, on the other hand, walked past me and leaned in, whispering smugly into my ear,
“Alpha and I are about to become mates.”

II you dont want to embarrass yourself, you better leave while you still can.”
“Otherwise, I’ve got plenty of ways to make sure Alpha kicks you and your little brat out for good.”
