Chapter 22
Aurora kept ranting,
“You have no idea, Miss Hawthorne. Octavia is full–on arrogant now!”
“She used to act all meek and pitiful around

everyone, and now she’s picking fights left and right. She’s just a snake who thinks she’s won.”
“And the way she mimics everything you used to do–it’s laughable. Like watching a bad impression of a queen.”
She kept venting, and I comforted her for a while before she reluctantly hung up.
That’s when I realized something.
I didn’t even care anymore.
Back when I first found out about the affair, I was desperate to know every detail about
them.
Now? I couldn’t care less.
I stepped out to take out the trash and happened to see Alpha Knox walking home,
holding our daughter’s hand and chatting with her along the way.
The moment she spotted me, she ran over excitedly, shouting,
“Mommy! Daddy said we’re going on a picnic
this weekend!”
Chapter 22
If this had been before, I would’ve happily started planning what food and supplies to
bring.
But now, I just gently patted her head and said,
“Mommy has something to do this weekend, sweetheart. How about you go with Daddy this
time?”
She looked a little disappointed.
“But Daddy’s always busy with work… When will the three of us ever go out together again?”
Alpha Knox pinched her chubby little cheek and promised,
“Soon. I swear.”
I nudged our daughter toward the bathroom for a bath.
When she came out, I saw Alpha Knox in the living room on the phone, speaking in a low,
irritated tone.
“I told you, I’m only here to spend time with my daughter.”
Chapter 22
“I already broke the mate bond for you—what more do you want?”
“How many times do I have to say it? I’ll be back later. Can you just stop this drama?”
He hung up, clearly annoyed, and when he turned around and saw me standing there, he
looked embarrassed.
“Beatrice, I’ve got something I need to take care
- of. Can you calm her down for me?”
Then he rushed toward the door.
I called out sharply,
“Alpha Knox, do you really think you still have the right to call yourself her father?”
He froze in his tracks for a second–then walked away even faster, like he was running from something.
A little while later, I got a transfer notification— Alpha Knox had sent money so I could buy our daughter a gift.
Just as I was about to go to bed, several
messages from an unknown number popped
Chapter 22
[Don’t think you can use the kid to tie Alpha down!]
[Alpha loves me now. I won’t let you take what’s mine–not even that child.]
I knew instantly–those messages were from
Octavia.
But hadn’t she only started working a few months ago?
So why did my contacts show we’d been friends for three years?
Had she been watching me this whole time?
That thought sent a chill down my spine.
What came next made me feel sick to my
stomach.
Octavia sent me photos.
The first one was of Alpha Knox–shirtless
and asleep–his hand loosely holding another
woman’s in bed.
That same night, our daughter had a high fever.
Chapter 22
I stayed at the hospital with her, calling him over and over. He later claimed he’d missed my calls because he was in a meeting and even sent us gifts to make up for it.
But in reality, he was lost in someone else’s
arms.
Finding out the truth? Absolutely disgusting.
The second photo was a selfie of Alpha Knox and Octavia under a sky full of fireworks.
That day was our daughter’s birthday.
She had begged him all day to come home early to watch fireworks with her.
He promised he would.
But instead, he broke that promise and left her
crying herself to sleep.
I stared at the photo and let out a cold laugh.
Breaking the mate bond with him? It was the
best decision I’d ever made.
More photos came–one after another.
Chapter 22
Each one taken on a significant day.
Our anniversary.
My birthday.
Every single time, he spent the moment with
Octavia first-
Then came home to play the loving husband.
No wonder he was always so tired.
How could he betray me like that and still lie to my face?
Still pretend like I was the fool?
My fists clenched in fury.
I used to think he had just fallen in love with
someone else.
But now, I see it clearly—Alpha Knox was rotten
to the core from the start.
I saved every single photo.
Once I’ve received the full child support payment, I’ll settle this once and for all.
