Chapter 29
His eyes were bloodshot as he glared at me, angrily scolding.
“Chloe, what do you mean?!”
I furrowed my brows, my eyes full of suppressed
tears.
Chapter 29
I gave a price, and yet, he couldn’t bring himself to pay it.
“Alpha Peter, let’s just…”
“Don’t you dare say it!”
“Don’t lower your head!” Tina’s voice exploded in my mind, her wolf spirit pacing anxiously, “Finish what you’re saying! Let him know you’re not some soft persimmon to be squeezed!”
He charged toward me, attempting to cover my mouth, but Faye tripped him up.
A light laugh escaped from her lips, a tear rolling down the corner of her eye.
“I never entangled him…”
His hands loosened, the ring fell into the water.
The ruby sank, and the surface of the lake
rippled.
The scar on the back of my neck suddenly
ached. It was the same kind of night from seven
years ago.
Thad been chained in a dungeon blood
Chapter 29
A branding iron pressed against my back. I counted the cracks on the wall, waiting for
Peter to come.
When he kicked open the door, I was covered in blood but still smiling. “I knew it,” I said.
He tore off the chains and wrapped me in his
suit.
In the helicopter, he wiped my wounds and pulled out the ring. “Once you’re healed, be my
Luna.”
“You’re crazy!” Peter grabbed my wrist.
“That’s the Luna token!”
His fingers went pale. “You know the meaning of the ring! Back then…”
“Back then?” I pulled my hand away, the old
wound on my back throbbing.
I tore open the collar, revealing the wolf claw scar. “Should this mark be burned away too?”
Peter glanced at the scar, his throat bobbing.
Fave ran over, her white dress fluttering.

“It’s nothing.” Peter shielded Faye behind him.
His gaze was as cold as ice. “You fetch the ring yourself. Don’t challenge me.”
I bent down to scoop water from the lake. The
reflection in the water shattered.
“Did you see that?” Tina sighed. “He’s long since
forgotten you.”
Seven years ago, he said, “My future Luna shouldn’t cry.”
Alpha Peter suddenly rushed to the lake’s edge to retrieve the ring.
I watched him so anxious, desperately suppressing the urge to dive into the water to fetch the ring myself. My chest grew heavier with every passing moment.
I turned and walked away.
I heard Faye ask, “Is the ring that important?”
Peter’s voice drifted in the wind: “Old things,
should be thrown away.”
He ordered someone to bring over a box.

the moonstone gleaming with a cold light.
Faye covered her mouth in surprise, but her eyes darted to my direction.
“Such a pretentious bitch!” Tina growled angrily.
I dug my nails into my palm.
“Peter, this is too valuable…”
Faye weakly rejected,
“Won’t Chloe be upset? After all, this ring was supposed to be hers…”
Peter affectionately brushed her nose: “Her?
Just a thing of the past.”

He took Faye’s hand, sliding the ring onto her ring finger. “Only you deserve to wear this ring.”
“I really hope Chloe will bless us…” The tone held a subtle hint of mockery.
Once, Peter said the most precious thing was the ring on my ring finger. Now, he had placed a new promise on someone else’s hand.
