Chapter 35
While riding horses on the northern plains, an Omega approached me. “Did you hear about Peter recently…”
“He called off the ceremony,” I took over the
conversation.
“Yes!” the Omega was surprised. “And he fought with Lucas, and he actually lost!”
“Why did they fight?” Tina asked, curious.
“Peter blamed Lucas for not keeping you,” the Omega whispered, “But Lucas said it was Peter who made you lose faith in love.”
I looked out at the vast plains, where cows and sheep grazed lazily. The wind brushed past my ears, and the feeling of freedom came rushing
over me.
“Tina, what do you think people live for?”

I smiled. The answer had always been in the
steps back home.
That foggy morning, I pushed open the rusted gate of Winsor Pack.
Lucas sat at the easel, surrounded by my portraits. Eight years of time captured in those paintings.
He looked up, his eyes trembling slightly behind his glasses. “Coco, am I dreaming?”

“I have to get Isabella to the hospital right away. You and Shadow can just figure your way down the mountain.”
But I had been cursed by the Moon Goddess into blindness for three years now–there was no way I could navigate the wilderness alone.

I trembled as I gripped his arm, begging him not to leave me behind.
“Isn’t Shadow there with you?”
“Can you not be so selfish? Isabella hates pain more than anything!”
Chapter 35
He pried my fingers away, and even my guide dog, Shadow, was kicked aside.
Shadow was seriously injured but still held on, staying by my side as we waited for help.
Once we were back home, I confronted Alpha Marcus about ending our mate bond. He looked
shocked.
“Are you really willing to betray the Moon Goddess just because of a dog?”
Inside, my wolf spirit Selene roared in anger, while I kept my head down, holding back tears.
“Yes, exactly. Just because of a dog!”
