Just half an hour ago, Isabella had slipped and twisted her ankle. Alpha Marcus, who had been supporting me, suddenly pushed me aside in a panic and rushed to her aid.
As I fumbled my way towards them, I saw him about to scoop her up to take her down the
mountain.
I forced a smile, grabbing his sleeve, trying to urge him to leave together.
But Alpha Marcus frowned and coldly told me,
“Let go.”
“What did you say?”
I thought I misheard him over the noise of the rain, turning toward him in surprise.
“I said let go. I’m in a hurry to get Isabella to the hospital, and I don’t have time to babysit you, you blind fool!”
I bit my lip, desperately holding back tears.

Alpha!“* my wolf spirit Selene roared angrily in my mind.
“Selene, calm down,” I replied inwardly.
“Calm? He’s abandoning us for that trashy woman! I want to tear her apart!”
“I won’t be a hassle; I can move faster. Just
don’t-”
“Enough! I don’t have time to waste on your
whining!”
Alpha Marcus interrupted me, impatience heavy in his voice.
“You have Shadow with you; you can find your way down the mountain.”
I tightened my grip on his sleeve, stubbornly refusing to let go.
Fear of the unknown made me unable to hold
back my desperate plea.
“Please, Alpha Marcus, I can’t see! If you leave me behind, I might die!”
He scoffed.

“What danger could you possibly face? You’re tough; a little injury won’t hurt.”
“Isabella is different from you! She’s been coddled all her life; she can’t handle pain like
that!”
Ignoring my pleas, he forcibly pried my hand away, holding Isabella close as he walked away
without looking back.
I reached out, longing to grab him, but grasped only emptiness instead.
The rain was so loud, I couldn’t even tell which
way he’d gone.
Everything was pitch black, and the icy rain chilled my heart to the core.
*“Let me out! Let me shred that worthless
woman! How dare she take our Alpha!“* Selene
roared.
“Selene, calm down.” I soothed the raging wolf spirit in my mind, “Right now, the most important thing is to survive.”

“Shadow?”
I tentatively called out to my guide dog, who had been by my side for three years, but all I got in response was a faint whimper.
Kneeling on the wet ground, I began to feel my way inch by inch.
It had tried to stop Alpha Marcus from leaving,
only to be kicked aside, landing harshly on the ground and crying out in pain.
When I finally found its warm body, my heart
eased a little.
My hands were cut and bloody from sharp stones beneath me.
I couldn’t see, but the pain in my fingertips
made me tremble.
A bitter smile crossed my lips.
A Luna cursed by the Moon Goddess, abandoned in the pouring rain on a desolate mountain–how dangerous could that be? Alpha Marcus had to know.

Yet he chose to leave me without hesitation.
This was the eighteenth time he had thrown me aside, and this time, I didn’t want him anymore.
*“Finally figured it out?“* Selene said coldly,
*“That loser doesn’t deserve us.‘ 11*
