Chapter 40
After the checkup, I was too exhausted to say a
word.
The nurse wheeled me back to my room, and as
soon as I walked in, I noticed a package sitting
on the bed.
Curiously, I picked it up to find that the
recipient was Isabella, but the address was my hospital room number.
Inside the package was a bottle of herbs for
pregnancy prevention.
“These two idiots!” Selene exclaimed in anger. “They’re making us their delivery girls!”
I scoffed, ready to toss it in the trash when Alpha Marcus’s mental link reached out to me.
“Aria, there was a mistake with Isabella’s package and it ended up with you. Could you please deliver it for us?”
I couldn’t help but laugh out of frustration; it turned out I was just a pawn in their little love game.

“No, Selene. We have to go. This is a good
chance to gather evidence.”
I wanted to refuse, but then I thought about it:
since I was breaking the mate bond, having a
bit more proof of Alpha Marcus’s betrayal might
actually come in handy.
I reluctantly agreed, switched my phone to
recording mode, and wheeled myself next door.
The door was ajar, and I saw Alpha Marcus with
Isabella, both cozied up on the bed.
When he saw me, a triumphant grin spread across his face.
*“Look at that jerk’s expression! He thinks we can’t see him!“* Selene said coldly.
I kept my face expressionless as I threw the package on the floor, but as I turned to leave, I was shocked to see Alpha Marcus pushing Isabella down onto the bed right in front of me.
Rage surged through me; I couldn’t believe he would stoop so low.
Isabella, clearly flustered, tried to shove him off and whispered, “Are you crazy? Aria’s still here;

Alpha Marcus shrugged it off, leaning in close to her, grinning wickedly as he said, “What’s the big deal? She’s blind; she can’t see a thing.”
“Don’t you think this is exciting? Being all cozy in front of a blind girl who has no idea–ha!”
“What a bastard!” Selene seethed, “I want to tear him apart!”
“Stay calm, Selene. We need to record this.”
I forced myself to suppress my disgust and pointed the camera at them.
Alpha Marcus was all over Isabella, completely oblivious.
He was so caught up in the moment that he
knocked the bottle of herbs onto the floor
without even noticing.
With a slight chuckle, I reminded him, “Alpha Marcus, your herbs just fell on the ground.”
He froze, eyes wide with panic as he dropped
his head.
His face went ashen, the color draining from
him.

I smiled slightly and replied in a calm voice, “The doctor said my blindness was caused by a curse from the Moon Goddess.”
“I bumped my head on the mountain, accidentally lifting the curse, so I’ve actually been able to see since last night.”
“For the past few days, I’ve had a front–row seat to your little love show–quite the match, really.”
It seemed the humiliation of seeing his beloved insulted got to Alpha Marcus, and he replied, “Aria, you need to know your place. You were just a blind girl; do you really expect me to be faithful to you?”
“What a jerk!” Selene yelled in fury, “Let me tear him apart!”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Of course, I never expected that. Staying
loyal is a human trait, something you wouldn’t understand.”
“But really, it doesn’t matter anymore. You don’t have to worry about anything; feel free to chase after your true love. This whole

relationship is a joke anyway. I don’t want it anymore.”
“So, Alpha Marcus, let’s break this mate bond. Garbage belongs in the trash, and honestly, you two seem like a perfect fit.”
With that, I was done; my patience had run out. I didn’t feel like looking at them one more second and began wheeling myself away.
Behind me, I heard Alpha Marcus’s furious roar, “You blind piece of trash, pretending to be
above it all?”
“You’ve already marked me, so what more do
you want?”
“If it weren’t for Isabella saving my life, I’d have been long gone. But I didn’t forget her saving me; I married you instead. What’s wrong with making it up to her? Do you really think you can just demand a mate bond separation like that?”
“You’re just jealous, you—”
“She didn’t save you.”
I burst out laughing softly, interrupting him.
Chapter 40
Alpha Marcus looked at me in utter disbelief,
shaking with rage.
“What did you say?”
I sneered at him.
“I said, she didn’t save you.”
“Because the one who saved you was me.”
“Alpha Marcus, if it weren’t for your screw–up, I wouldn’t have been cursed by the Moon
Goddess.”
As soon as the words left my mouth, he froze in
place, his face pale as a ghost.
It felt like the air had thickened around us, and
the entire room fell silent.
He stayed quiet for a long moment before finally mumbling, “That’s impossible. If you really did save me, why didn’t you tell me all these years?”
“Because we were both too foolish!“* Selene
