Caden’s blood ran cold.
It hit him–he’d cleared out every healer that night. For Lilith.
His lips trembled.
“Which healing center… was Brielle sent to?”
The Beta lowered his gaze.
“The same one. I heard… she was dying from the venom. But there wasn’t a single healer left. She was out cold for two days. Survived on her own.”
The world spun.
Caden’s chest tightened like something was tearing it apart from the inside.
So those two days-
Brielle wasn’t sulking. Wasn’t being dramatic.
She was barely clinging to life.
And it was his fault.
While she fought to survive, alone and in agony-
he’d been fawning over the one who nearly killed her.
She must’ve hated him for it. Deeply. Deservedly.
Pain tore through his chest.

Caden slapped himself, hard.
“I’m sorry, Brielle… I was wrong. I failed you. I misjudged everything… I’m so damn sorry.”
But it was too late.
The one who needed to hear it? Gone.
She’d never face him again.
His gaze darkened.
Rage surged through his chest–burning, blinding.
He stormed down the hall and kicked open Lilith’s door.
She blinked, groggy.
“Caden? What’s wrong? Did Brielle piss you off agai—”
Smack!
The slap rang out.
“The one who pissed me off… was you.”
