I laughed. Cold and bitter.
“And what do you want me to do with that, Caden? Past or present, I’ll never forgive you. Never seeing you again? That’s the only ending that makes sense.”
I grabbed Ron’s hand and walked. Never looked back.
Behind me, I heard him break-
“Brielle… I’m sorry…”
But a ‘sorry‘ doesn’t fix lifetimes of pain. Doesn’t undo betrayal. Doesn’t bring me back from the grave.
Ron and I left the Moonhowl Pack’s territory.
We marked each other in the northern grasslands and kept moving–chasing love, chasing peace.
I never stepped foot in Moonhowl again.
And Caden’s name? Never crossed my path after that day.
