Chapter 7
My soul floated in midair, my emotions no longer stirred by anything Cyrus did.
In the past few years, Cyrus had been nothing but obedient to Emily, but now that I was dead, his attitude towards her became
cold again.
What in the world was going through his mind?
Emily, having just given birth, wanted to lean on Cyrus‘ shoulder, but he avoided her advances immediately.
Cyrus felt like he still had my presence lingering in his arms, so he didn’t want anyone to disturb it.
Emily chuckled awkwardly, acting like nothing happened.
“Cyrus, I heard that your parents returned, is that true?”
“It is,” Cyrus replied slowly, inspecting Emily’s expression carefully as he did. “My parents returned, and they said that we’ve
misunderstood her all these years, and that they left because of a deal they made…”
I listened to him explain, but quickly realized that he didn’t bring up a single word about the traitor.
Emily covered her mouth, feigning surprise. “A deal? Why didn’t I know about it?”
She seemed to want Cyrus to elaborate more, but Cyrus cut the conversation short, not wanting to continue.
“Have some rest. Marina’s not doing well, so I need to go take care of her. Sleep by yourself tonight.”
He’d never acted so coldly toward Emily before, so I was quite shocked, to be honest.
After Cyrus left the room, Emily’s expression twisted, and she smashed everything on the table to bits.
Meanwhile, Cyrus had gathered all the mages in the pack to discuss how to resurrect me.
Naturally, this earned him many strange looks from the mages, and they looked at each other dubiously, knowing that I was
far beyond saving.
One mage who was more straightforward with his words spoke, “Alpha King, you should know that death is an irreversible journey. Marina’s mermaid pearl is almost fully seafoam, so there is no way to resurrect her. At this point, it would be simpler to find her a place to rest…”
