Sirius’s eyes widened at the snake cufflinks that Ebony wore at his sleeves.
Disbelief showed all over his face as he looked at Ebony’s exceedingly handsome face, and he dropped the branding iron as he cried, “What are you talking about?! You’re Ebony, aren’t you?! You’re trying to force Lola to marry you, aren’t you?! Just so you know, we’re marked!”
He was only left all the more alarmed as he watched Ebony smile and take my hand, before finally regarding him in amusement. “I’d never once mentioned anything about marrying Lola-it was always Winnie, who had personally concocted the potion. Only fools like you would like a liar like Lola!”
Sirius’ heart skipped a beat-what was Ebony talking about?!
The rest of the guests were in an uproar, some vocally doubting that Lola had made the winning potion.
At the same time, Lola turned pale.
Before she could burst into tears, I glared at my parents, who had just come downstairs. “We had a deal.”
My mother pursed her lips in embarrassment, but she eventually walked up to Lola and whispered something into her ear.
