Afterward, he returned home. The moment he walked into the living room and saw the photo of me and him still hanging on the wall, he broke down in tears.
“Zoe, I was wrong. I never should’ve believed Ruby. I never should’ve ignored you… Please come back… I’m begging you…” He sobbed uncontrollably, torn apart by anguish and regret. He regretted everything–being blind to Ruby’s lies, and worst of all, not being there when I needed him the most.
No one knew how long he cried before he finally wiped his face and started to organize my things. He carefully folded my clothes and put them in the wardrobe. He placed my favorite jewelry into a box.
And at the very end, he held the pair of rings we bought together–his and mine–and clutched them to his chest as the tears

fell again. “Zoe, wait for me. I’ll be with you soon.”
After putting everything away, Caleb picked up a pen and signed a document. He donated everything, including his company,
his home, and all of his assets.
Then, he cleaned himself up, dressed in the formal outfit he wore at our bonding ceremony, took my photo in his arms, and
went to my grave.
Standing in front of the headstone, he whispered, “Zoe, I came to see you. I miss you so much. Do you miss me too? I used to
get so caught up in work that I would often ignore you. But now, I finally have time. I can be with you again.
“Remember how, back then, you always wanted me to take you shopping or to the movies? I used to think it was annoying,
but looking back, those were the happiest days of my life. Zoe, I was wrong. Please just come back…”
By the end, his tears wouldn’t stop. ·
He stayed by my grave for three days and nights. It wasn’t until the hospital called, saying my mother had been injured in a
fall and they couldn’t reach anyone else, that they finally managed to reach him.
He rushed to the hospital immediately.
My father died when I was very young. My mother raised me on her own. Before I passed, the one person I couldn’t let go of
was her.
I had transferred a large sum into her bank account, enough for a lifetime in a good retirement home. But I hadn’t realized
that money wasn’t all she needed. She needed care and someone to be there.
I stood by her hospital bed, watching as she lay there helplessly. I wanted so badly to hold her, but my hand just passed through hers. I couldn’t touch her.

“The elderly need care. How could no one be looking after her? If the neighbor hadn’t found her, she could’ve died from blood
loss,” the doctor scolded Caleb.
She had no idea the man she was talking to was the Alpha of the entire pack.
“Sorry. I’ve been busy lately,” Caleb said.
He collected the medication from the nurse and returned to the ward Sitting by the bed, he took my mother’s hand. “Zoe may be gone, but you’ll always be my mother. Come live with me. I’ll take care of you. I promise, I’ll never bond with another woman. Zoe is the only Luna I’ll ever have.”
The moment she heard my name, tears streamed down her face. Then, she nodded silently.
After she was discharged, Caleb brought my mother home. He looked after her with care and devotion
Just like he promised me at my grave, he never bonded with anyone else. But for the future of the pack, he adopted a boy
from an orphanage. The boy had the same blue eyes as I did.
Years later, that child inherited the pack. Caleb passed away one early spring morning. He had gone peacefully in his sleep while holding a photo of me in his arms. I was the only thing he never let go of.
