Chapter 4
The crowd blew up in chaos.
Minnie’s father pointed at her and Raymond, his voice shaking. “What’s going on here?”
People around the room started whispering to each other.
Wow, I can’t believe this. She’s so young, and her videos are played in public.”
“I always thought Minnie was a good student. I didn’t expect she was playing a different game behind closed doors.”
“She doesn’t even look like a mistress. That man must have no sense of decency, choosing someone that young to be his mistress.”
Minnie looked like she was about to faint. She went pale. Raymond caught her before she collapsed, then glared at me with anger.
“You’ve lost it! Do you even realize what you’ve done?!”
Watching him side with someone else, especially after all the times he stood by me, all I could feel was bitter amusement.
“Of course. It’s time for a little intro.”
The screen behind me switched from that intimate footage to one of our wedding photos.
“I’m Raymond’s legal wife. I wasn’t planning to make a scene–but here we
are.

“Since my husband is out chasing a girl younger, I figured I had to step up. I can’t just sit back and let it slide.”
“Whitney!” Raymond snapped, completely losing it.
He tried to charge toward me, but Alice’s bodyguards stopped him in his
tracks.
I turned toward Minnie, who could barely stay on her feet.
“Ms. Lopez, if you’re bold enough to get involved, be bold enough to let him make it public.”
Then, I pulled out the divorce papers.
“Why not use this special day to settle things? Go ahead and sign, Raymond.” I tossed the papers at him.
He just stared at them, speechless. That was when it hit him that I wasn’t bluffing. I was indeed going to divorce him.
Not long ago, he found a note I wrote when my flight had scary turbulence. I seriously thought I might die. Even then, all I could write was, “Ray, live your life. I love you.”
It was short, but he knew it was my most profound way to express myself.
Now, he completely spaced out.
“Whitney…”
“Ray…” Minnie walked over to him, her eyes red and teary
But her mother slapped her face. “Wouldn’t you feel shameless to be a homewrecker?!”

“You are!” her mother shouted, face blazing red. “I’ve never been this humiliated! You’ve got no shame. I can’t stand mistresses the most!”
She was about to kick Minnie, but Raymond jumped in between them.
“Don’t lay a finger on her!” he snapped.
Alice immediately took a photo of him. “Wow, now you’re trying to play, hero?”
Raymond’s face darkened. Minnie’s mother pulled her close and snapped, J’We’re not getting involved with a filthy family like yours!”
Her father tore the boutonniere from his chest. “What bad luck!”
They immediately stormed out. Minnie scrambled after them, but classmates and teachers were already crowding around her.
“You’ve embarrassed the whole school!”
I stood there watching the whole farce unfold. Then, Minnie turned to me, her face soaked with tears.
“I never wanted to hurt you! Why did you do this to me? What did I even do wrong?!”
