Chapter19
After Julian Lancaster left for good, Logan Westwood made sure Charlotte had no other injuries before carrying her back to her room.
He gently laid her down, tucked the blanket around her, then sat beside her bed as usual, picking up the half–read book on her nightstand and reading softly to lull her to sleep.
Charlotte listened with her eyes closed, but she couldn’t help noticing the faint tremble in his voice. It tugged at something in her chest.
She opened her mouth and said quietly, “Can you stay with me tonight?”
“I’m right here,” Logan whispered. “As always. I won’t go until you fall asleep,
Charlotte frowned. “No. Lie down with me.”
She felt his body tense for a split second.
Only once she was sure his attention had shifted, away from the terrifying fall she’d nearly had on
the stairs, did she finally let out a quiet breath.
Soon, the warmth of his freshly showered body, scented faintly with clean body wash, settled into
the bed beside her.
She scooted closer, curling into his arms, eyes bright with a soft smile.
“Don’t worry. I’ll be careful. I’ll listen to the doctors and try to live longer. Just so I can stay by your
side a little while more.”
She lay against his chest, listening to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, her own thoughts slipping
into a blur.
Somewhere between sleep and waking, she thought she heard a whisper.
“Charlotte… marry me.”
She didn’t answer.
Maybe she nodded, maybe she didn’t.
Either way, sleep took her before she could say a word.
After that night, Logan started busying himself with wedding preparations.

That’s when Charlotte realized,
She’d been tricked again.
But every time she saw him so focused, so gentle while planning the ceremony, she couldn’t bring
herself to say no.
Maybe it was because of what she had said that night during her episode, maybe it moved Julian to finally let go.
She’d gotten a single message from him, asking if she was really getting married.
After that, he disappeared from her life.
Peace returned.
Logan moved into her room without hiding it at all, claiming it was “for convenience.”
She secretly wondered if he had any intentions of misbehaving.
But every night he lay beside her like a perfect gentleman, hands neatly folded over his stomach, legs strictly staying on his side of the bed.
It really did seem like he had moved in just to take care of her.
Reassured, Charlotte clung to him like a koala every night.
Her days had never felt this sweet.
They would stroll hand–in–hand around the estate.
They’d share meals together, though she still thought
his cooking was the best.
They exchanged
together.
e gifts, planned tiny sand sometimes went out to see musicals
One of them was Doubt, an internationally acclaimed show.
Onstage, the male lead sat alone on a park bench, reciting lines filled with the haunting weight of Polish poetry.
“When your image disappeared from my eyes,
It did not stay imprinted on my heart…

Was it friendship… or love?”
Charlotte watched quietly, without much of a reaction.
But then her eyes wandered through the crowd, and stopped.
There, not far away, was a familiar silhouette.
His eyes were slightly red.
After the show, Logan went to get the car.
Charlotte stood in the square, watching children chase each other through the plaza.
She wore a soft white dress.
When the breeze caught its hem, she looked like a patch of ginger lilies blooming beneath the wind.
From across the shadowed plaza, Julian Lancaster stood watching, eyes rimmed with red.
He had lost count of how many times he’d wished he could turn back time.
No accident.
No amnesia.
No missed moments.
If only he could rewind everything, Charlotte would still be his wife.
Her illness wouldn’t matter, he was sure he could take better care of her than Logan ever could.
But it was all just fantasy.
They couldn’t go back.
The kids stumbled, nearly falling into Charlotte.
She didn’t have time to dodge, but someone gently steadied her.
By the time she looked around, there was no one suspicious nearby. No trace.
Still, she quietly murmured into the air, “Thank you.”
Logan pulled up a few minutes later.

Charlotte threw herself into his arms, rambling about nearly falling down.
She never mentioned Julian.
On the day of the wedding, Charlotte received gifts from Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster, along with several
friends and family.
And one anonymous gift, a massive inheritance.
All of Julian’s shares in the Lancaster Group.
Included with the contract was a pair of wooden figurines, carved in the image of two children
sitting on a Wisteria Swing.
Logan, seeing the carvings, grew jealous and promptly threw them out.
Charlotte didn’t mind.
Under the guidance of the priest, she stood in a white gown, her gaze steady and serene as she looked into Logan’s eyes.
“I swear before the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
“To accept you as my husband. From this day forward, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, I will love you and cherish you, until death parts us.”
As her vows fell quiet, somewhere in the crowd,
Someone’s eyes finally lost all light.
