It wasn’t a dream!
Realizing that, I ran through the pouring rain to Bianca’s house.
She wasn’t surprised to see me at all, as if she’d known I would come.
With trembling fists and red eyes, I demanded to know the truth.
Bianca suddenly broke down in tears. “Fred made a deal with me. He traded his life to change your fate!”
In that instant, my ears rang. Tears streamed down uncontrollably as I looked at her in a panic, completely at a loss for
words. “Who are you exactly?”
Bianca wiped away her tears. “I’m the system.”
Freddie was one of the best players in the infinite universe. He’d cleared thousands of missions without ever failing.
One day, the system told him he only had one final mission to complete. After that, he could finally retire.
Freddie set off in high spirits,
But due to a dimensional glitch, he landed in a tragic youth romance mission.

Luckily, he wasn’t the male lead. He was just a background character.
Throughout the mission, he barely had ten lines of dialogue.
I was the female lead in this mission. The male lead was Hugo.
I lost my father at a young age. After my mother remarried, we had a few good years. When I turned 16 years old, I became an orphan after my parents died in an accident.
From then on, my life spiraled into tragedy. I was bullied at school and emotionally manipulated by Hugo.
My relatives took all my inheritance.
In the end, I died from a terminal illness at 20 years old.
Hugo regretted his past actions and chose to live alone forever.
Freddie read the plot and couldn’t help sighing. As his sister in this mission, I had such a miserable life.
But pity aside, he didn’t intend to interfere with the leads‘ lives.
After all, he was just a background character. The plan was to lay low and finish the mission.
So, in his designated plot, he always followed the character’s personality. However, his heart couldn’t help but soften.
The first time was when he saw me crying in despair as he left for abroad.
Freddie thought, “Don’t cry, Rosalie. The more you cry, the worse your fate gets.”
For a moment, he even considered staying. Yet the plot forcibly took him away.
The second time was at the funeral of our parents.
The 16–year–old me stood alone there, fragile like glass.
Almost instinctively, he walked over and said lines completely out of character.
When I threw myself into his arms, an inexplicable emotion suddenly surged within his heart.
Freddie suddenly wanted to take good care of me.
He wanted to change the plot so that I could live a happy life forever.
