Chapter 4: Chapter 4
“Isn’t that a knockoff of the ‘Eternal Moonlight’? On the day of Mrs. Rodriguez’s first public appearance, she shows up wearing a fake? Is she trying to embarrass our pack on purpose?”
“Alaric, is this a friend of yours?” another subordinate asked with a frown.
Noticing I hadn’t even glanced at him once, Alaric straightened his tie and replied calmly, “No.”
Cassia’s expression lit up at his words, and she looked at me with a triumphant air. “Take off that necklace and get out!”
I looked at her coolly and asked, “Are you sure you want me to leave?”
My calm expression only infuriated her further. In her mind, I should have been in tears, begging her.
Her eyes narrowed and she shouted, “Stop pretending! Take that necklace off! Now!”
The next second, she lunged at me, trying to rip it off herself.
I slapped her hand away and instinctively took a step back. But suddenly, a foot shot out. Caught off guard, I fell hard, and a sharp, cramping pain shot through my abdomen.
I was in complete shock.
Cassia stepped on my hand and tore the necklace from my neck, then slammed it onto the ground. “Only trash like you would treat this piece of junk like a treasure.”
A searing pain shot up my arm as her heel crushed the bones in my fingers. Blood and dirt mixed together.
However, I just stared blankly at the broken necklace and the sparkling gems scattered on the floor.
“Seize her and throw her out!” Cassia commanded arrogantly.
People immediately closed in. As someone was about to grab me, I said quickly, “Stop! I am Mr. Rodriguez’s—”
Before I could finish, Cassia slapped me hard. “Oh, let me guess. You’re going to claim to be Mr. Rodriguez’s Luna again? You? What a joke.”
As if one slap wasn’t enough, she hit me again.
My inner wolf snarled, hungry to tear her to shreds.
At first, I hadn’t planned on settling any old scores. She wasn’t worth my time.
But now, I vowed she would pay for this.
Alaric crouched in front of me, reaching out to touch the wound on my neck. I recoiled instinctively.
He looked at me coldly. “Isadora, have you had enough of this charade?”
“You’re just trying to get my attention because you see how successful I am now, right? Trying to win me back?”
“If you beg me now, I’ll help you out of this mess. I’ll even let you stay by my side.”
I replied with a cold laugh, “Alaric, you really think too highly of yourself.”
Alaric frowned, about to speak, but he noticed the room had suddenly fallen silent. Everyone’s gaze was locked on the party’s entrance.
He quickly pulled me to my feet, muttering under his breath, “The Alpha Supreme and the honored guests are here. You’d better behave.”
“But don’t worry. I’ve already dissolved my temporary bond with Cassia. I can give you another chance.”
I looked at him, confused. I had long since lost interest in his relationships.
I rubbed my still-aching neck, and the full weight of his disgusting nature crashed down on me.
Just then, Kieran entered the room, holding our pup, Orion Rodriguez, surrounded by a crowd that treated him like a king.
The moment the adorable pup appeared, all eyes were drawn to him.
Alaric suddenly turned to me and said, “Isadora, as long as you stop being jealous, I’m willing to forgive you. And I’ll give you the chance to bear a pup for me, one that is truly ours.”
I ignored him. My gaze went past him, meeting Kieran’s from across the crowd where he stood beside Orion. The moment our eyes met, both of their faces lit up.
A moment later, Kieran followed Orion’s lead and walked straight toward me.
