Her charming eyes were filled with disbelief.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Ortega, but I was just using you to embarrass Florentino. Couldn’t you tell?”
She had assumed he knew.
It was just that he had been displeased, so he didn’t want to cooperate.
To her surprise, he said, “I know.
“So… was my cooperation not good enough?”
She took a deep breath.
“I said thank you, didn’t I? The rest was just me joking.”
“But I took it seriously.
“Don’t you think your revenge only gets better if it’s real?”
He said this so seriously, his obscure eyes convincing her that he wasn’t joking.
Her heart skipped a beat before she let out a chuckle.
Stepping closer to him slowly, she hooked his tie with her fingers, smiling charmingly.
Thanks to her high heels, she didn’t have to strain too much to meet his eyes. Though her rosy lips only grazed his jaw, her presence was as commanding as ever.
“You’re close friends with Florentino, aren’t you, Mr. Ortega? Sleeping with his woman? How kinky…”
Suddenly, he pulled her into his arms, leaned down slightly, and locked eyes with her, the tip of his nose brushing against her lips.
“It’s so thrilling, isn’t it?”
In a heartbeat, Sandria’s body was pressed tightly against Fulbert’s. The undisguised danger and aggression in his eyes panicked her somehow.
Florentino’s warning echoed in her ears, and she couldn’t help but regret messing with Fulbert, who was basically a mystery.
As she was about to break free, out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of Florentino walking out of the ho- tel with his arm around Courtney’s waist.
The second Florentino looked in their direction, her body reacted more quickly than her brain–she stood on tiptoe and

kissed Fulbert’s lips.
She tried to slide her tongue into his mouth, and his reaction genuinely surprised her.
He was so clumsy that his lips stayed sealed, and his teeth grazed her lips, hurting her.
Meanwhile, he tightened his grip on her slender waist, appearing like a lovestruck teenager facing his first crush.
After Florentino and Courtney vanished from her sight, she immediately broke free from his embrace and wiped her lips with the back of her hand.
Fortunately, there was no blood.
Eager to get rid of Fulbert, she said with disdain, “Gee, you’re so lame. I’m so not interested in you.”
With that, she quickly turned to leave.
What she didn’t notice were his stiff body and his hands hovering mid–air. His deep–set eyes burned with raw lust, like smoldering embers after a volcanic eruption, ready to turn everything to ashes.
Back at the apartment, she took a shower before receiving a call from Florentino.
His voice was extremely hoarse.
“Where are you? I need to see you now.”
She lounged lazily on the soft, king–sized bed, draped in her bathrobe, deliberately letting out a seductive moan.
“Oh, but I’m afraid I can’t. Mr. Burnham, don’t you have a fiancee? If she knows about this, how are you gonna ex- plain to her?”
His breathing grew heavier.
Then he let out a cold laugh.
“Sandy, you know nothing about Fulbert. He never lets any woman get close, let alone you. I know you’re trying to stimulate me by doing this, but it won’t work. If only you had Courtney’s name, her connections… Sandy, we can still keep this going as long as she doesn’t find out about us. Be good, OK? You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.”
His gentle tone, however, only disheartened Sandria.
So, he chose Courtney for her family’s connections?
Gazing at the luxurious custom–made chandelier, she curved her lips slowly.
“Meet me at the hotel–the one we first got together. I’ll be waiting for you in Room 608, just like old times.”
She hung up after saying this.
Then she took out her phone and scrolled through her contacts.
