My ex-husband’s Ch 21

My ex-husband's Ch 21

Seeing Sandria clutching her wrist, a nurse immediately walked over nervously.

“Ma’am, is your wrist hurt? There’s been a massive pileup, and many people are injured. All ambulances are de- ployed. I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for the second batch…”

Just as Sandria wanted to say she was fine, someone held her injured wrist gently.

“Are you alright?”

She looked up, only to see Fulbert.

He furrowed his brows tightly, his forehead covered in sweat.

Was he… anxious?

Did he … rush here for her?

Sandria was slightly stunned. “What are you doing here?

Instead of answering her, Fulbert pursed his lips slightly as his gaze fell upon her injured wrist.

“I’ll take you to the hospital,” he said.

She didn’t exactly want to. “That won’t be necessary. It’s just a minor bump.”

“You have to.”

His tone was so firm, leaving no room for refutation, which was quite rare.

“Unless you want me to carry you out of here.”

Sandria felt momentarily speechless.

Even picturing the scene was embarrassing enough.

But… Why was Fulbert acting like this? He was so weird.

She gave in and let him take her to the hospital eventually, After taking an X–ray, the doctor said there was nothing to worry about. With some ointment and proper rest, she’d be fine.

Sitting there, she moved her wrist slightly. Sure enough, it didn’t hurt as much as before.

She was about to go back when Fulbert came over with a bottle of ointment.

“Give me your hand.”

Seeing the stubborn look on his face, she had no choice but to do as she was told.

He seemed so careful when applying the ointment as if she were some precious treasure.

Once again, she felt that strange sensation in her heart. She pursed her lips, suppressing it.

Then she said half–jokingly, “Mr. Ortega, why did you rush over? Were you worried that once I died, you’d never find such a perfect business partner again?”

After applying the ointment, Fulbert looked up and stared at her.

His gaze was so intense. As she grew slightly uneasy, he suddenly smiled.

“Of course. I’ll never come across anyone as perfect as you … to be my business partner.”

Looking at him, she arched an eyebrow.

“Honestly, Mr. Ortega, your persistence is quite moving.“.

“So? Are you gonna change your mind?”

Jumping off the bed, she walked out while saying, “Not for now.”

Fulbert shook his head before following her.

She’d never know how anxious he had been when he heard about the accident.

On the way back, Sandria took out her phone. It had automatically turned off after hitting the ground, and she wasn’t sure if it could still work.

Fortunately, it was turned on normally.

Then a notification popped out.

It was a news report with the headline “Rear–end collision at Daybreak Bridge caused three dead and nine injured“.

She clicked on it, surprised to see herself among the crowd.

Perhaps there had been a reporter on the spot.

She shook her head and was about to put her phone away. Just then, she accidentally tapped the screen.

Immediately, another bold headline filled her screen.

“The Burnham family and the Mosley family announce an upcoming alliance through marriage! Mr. Burnham and Ms. Mosley spotted at the airport, possibly returning to her family home…”

In the attached photo, Florentino wrapped his arm around Courtney’s waist as they chatted and smiled intimately.

The rings on their fingers stung Sandria’s eyes.

She zoomed in, and her heart instantly ached terribly.

She wept for her old self.

It wasn’t the first time she had seen those rings. In fact, she had asked Florentino before whether he liked them or not, wanting to buy them as their anniversary gifts.

She had been thrilled when he nodded.

But before she could buy them, he told her about his affair. And now, the rings were on his and another woman’s fin-

ger.
