My ex-husband’s Ch 24

My ex-husband's Ch 24

Chapter 24

Hearing this, she arched an eyebrow and smiled charmingly, “Someone’s getting addicted to playing the sweet boyfriend. Thanks, Mr. Ortega.”

Then she closed the door without hesitation.

Staring at the door, Fulbert lowered his head and chuckled, his gaze deepening.

Once at home, Sandria was in a much better mood. After washing up, she quickly sent Lynette a message.

“I’ve dealt with everything. Now, let’s talk about the studio.”

Lynette immediately called her on video.

“Already? Gee, Sandy, you’re surely as efficient as always. Thumbs up! I’ve been worried about you.”

Lynette was always good at reading people. Seeing the radiant smile on Sandria’s face, she knew Sandria didn’t suffer any losses.

She smiled with relief.

Then she continued, “Let’s get down to business without wasting another second. I’ve got a big order–a new tech start- up wants to build a top–tier network firewall system, and the pay is great. I didn’t dare to take it on before, so it’s great you’re back. I’ll send you their information.”

Sandria’s phone dinged.

Lynette had sent her relevant information about the tech company.

Lynette beamed, her voice loud and brisk, “Sandy, finally, you’re back. I was so worried that you might get soft–heart- ed and go back to that jerk.”

Sandria’s voice was firm. “I won’t go back.”

Giving her a thumbs–up, Lynette said, “Well, get yourself familiar with the materials first. Circle anything that you don’t understand. I’ll hit them up first thing tomorrow. Time to make a killer start!”

After hanging up, Sandria reviewed the files. When she finally went through everything, it was already past 11:00 p.m. She was about to rest when her phone rang–it was an unknown number.

She frowned. Thinking that she was a businesswoman now, she answered.

“Sandy, it’s me.”

Chapter 24

A deep, male voice rang out.

She recognized it at once.

In the past, she had always been addicted to his voice, finding it pleasant to the ear.

But now, his deliberately lowered, affected tone only disgusted her.

She was about to hang up.

But he sighed softly, as if he had already anticipated her reaction.

“Wait, Sandy. Don’t hang up just yet. I’m worried about you, and I just wanna know how you’re doing. Also, there’s something I wanna tell you. The Schroeder family’s banquet is around the corner, and they’ve sent me an invitation. I’ll get you one, too.”

His tone was gentle, but the condescension laced within it was unmistakable. “You’ll meet a lot of new people there, and it helps with your career. You’ve always wanted to start a side business, right? Sandy, see? I still care about you. Could you stop being mad at me?”

He realized his lovesick act wouldn’t win her back, so he decided to act humble and dangle connections and resources instead?

Wait… The Schroeder family?

She arched an eyebrow, wanting to laugh.

Suddenly, she was so curious. If Florentino knew she was the daughter of the Schroeder family, the reason why they hosted the banquet, how would he react? The look on his face would surely be priceless.

Since she had already picked up, she might as well mess with him a little. She chuckled. “Sure. Then I’m counting on you to get me an invitation. It’s true that not everyone gets to be invited to the Schroeder family’s banquet.”

Hearing her chuckle, Florentino somehow felt relieved. “I’ll email it to you. Could you unblock my number and send me your address?”

She said mockingly, “Why?

“You want me to see you and your dear fiancee play all lovey–dovey again?”

Florentino felt a bit helpless. Yet, probably because of the earlier encounter with Fulbert today, he was extremely good–tempered and patient.

“Sandy, things between Courty and me aren’t what you think. It’s just an arranged marriage. We’ve never even held hands…”

Just then, a delicate woman’s voice came through,

“Tino…”

It was Courtney.
