My ex-husband’s Ch 25

My ex-husband's Ch 25

Sandria smiled, her voice dripping with sarcasm, “At this hour, you two are alone together. Mr. Burnham, do think I’m stupid or what?”

Florentino fell silent for a moment.

Then he said, lowering his voice, “Sandy, I’ve got something to do. I gotta go.”

Hanging up, Sandria felt so sick.

How could he lie to her so shamelessly again and again?

She blocked the number he had used to call her, turned off her phone, and got to bed, getting ready for tomorrow.

Early the next morning, she started working on coding.

It had been ages since she had built an entire system on her own, and it was quite hard.

Before she realized it, it was the afternoon already.

Lines of code scrolled relentlessly across her screen. The system hung when she was debugging, and just then, her phone rang.

She glanced at the screen–it was Deanna Harrell.

Like her, Deanna was also a model under the Burnham Group’s Modeling Department.

They were close to each other and would go out for coffee or a meal sometimes.

As soon as she picked up, Deanna said anxiously, lowering her voice, “Sandy, where are you? They say you’ve been absent without notice and want to fire you! Come in now!”

She sounded genuinely worried.

“If this goes into your records, you’ll never pass a background check anywhere. This is career suicide! Sandy, did you do something to upset Mr. Burnham? He’s … ruining you.”

Sandria’s expression darkened.

The last trace of warmth in her eyes was replaced by iciness.

Little did she know Florentino would resort to such a cheap, dirty move.

He withheld her resignation letter, trapping her in the role.

And then, he actually accused her of this, tarnishing her spotless professional record?

Chapter 25

What gave him the right to do this to her?

Just because they had been together for eight years?

Because she used to love him to the core?

She smiled coldly, grabbed her Chanel blazer from the sofa, and draped it over her shoulders.

“I see. I’m coming over now.”

She’d like to know what tricks Florentino and his precious Courtney would pull now.

Half an hour later.

The second Sandria stepped into the Burnham Group, Deanna rushed over to her.

“Finally, Sandy, you’re here.”

Lowering her voice, Deanna pulled her to a corner, looking both worried and gossipy.

“You haven’t shown up for the past few days, so this might be new to you. Ms. Mosley is the new head of the Model- ing Department now. She’s the one who wants to fire you.”

Sandria arched an eyebrow slowly.

The head of the Modeling Department?

Not a while ago, Florentino had promised her he’d make her the new head of the department.

Look at what he’d done–withholding her resignation letter and handing the position over to his fiancee.

She sneered.

A wave of nausea struck her, making her stomach churn.

She took a deep breath to suppress it and gently patted Deanna’s hand that was tightly gripping her arm.

“Thanks for telling me.”

Then, without saying much, she walked to the public printer in the corner of the hall and printed out another resigna- tion letter deadpan.

Clutching the still–warm paper, she headed straight to the top–floor CEO’s office, her ten–centimeter Jimmy Choos hammering the polished marble floor, each click crisp and decisive.

Just as she arrived at the office door, Florentino’s special assistant, Marcel Weaver, stopped her.

“Ms. Farley, I’m afraid you can’t come in there. Mr. Burnham is meeting with a guest.”

Though Marcel sounded all professional, the contempt in his eyes was undisguised.

Everyone in the company knew Florentino had dumped Sandria and was with Courtney now.

Chapter 25

Sandria couldn’t be bothered to waste a second on him, a snob.

She nodded, seemingly about to give up.

“Alright. I’ll come back later, then.”

After saying this, she decisively turned around, heading toward the elevator.
