Without any warning, a rugged hand suddenly shot out and held over my mouth. An overwhelming force dragged me straight toward a dark, deep alley. The ambush was so sudden and effective, I didn’t even have time to react.
In an instant, my mind went blank; instinctively, I began to struggle.
Faced with such overwhelming strength, however, my resistance was futile. I could only let myself be dragged deeper and
deeper into the alley.
Finally, when I was pulled into the darkest corner, I managed to catch a glimpse of their faces under the faint moonlight.

I held my breath and quietly slipped my hand into my pocket, where I kept the taser I usually carried for self–defense.
