Chapter 19
After just a few steps, Olivia kicked Natalie right in the arm.
Natalie stumbled and fell into the snow. She howled, clutching her arm. Snow and twigs smeared her face with muddy slush, leaving her a complete mess.
“Next time, it’ll be your face,” Olivia threw out coldly, scooping Jenny into her arms and getting into the car.
When Natalie came to her senses, the car was already long gone. “Bitch! I’ll make you pay,” she screamed, collapsed on the ground, paralyzed by pain.
Olivia saw Natalie’s crazed look in the rear–view mirror and didn’t even bother with her. She quickly checked Jenny basic first aid. “Jenny, it’s okay. As long as I’m here, nothing’s going to happen to you,” she reassured her.
Outside the window, the snow kept falling, growing heavier by the minute.
over and started
Meanwhile, inside the gray car, Andrew sat in the back seat, his fingers drumming impatiently against the window. He radiated a cold, dangerous aura, filling the car with a suffocating tension.
Ethan shivered, goosebumps prickling all over. Honestly, the freezing snow outside felt warmer than the chill in here.
“Boss, w–we just got some news,” Ethan stammered, barely daring to speak. After all, he was the one who lost Jenny. The only reason Andrew hadn’t ripped him to shreds yet was pure mercy.
“Report,” Andrew ordered, his voice icy.
Ethan braced himself, avoiding Andrew’s stormy glare. “We… we still can’t find Jenny anywhere around here…” he said quietly.
Andrew stayed silent, his eyes clouded with worry and tension.
Ethan could tell Andrew was about to explode. To Andrew, nothing mattered more than Jenny.
“What’s the point of having you guys if you can’t even keep an eye on Jenny?” Andrew snapped, yanking the car door open, about to go look for her himself.
“Boss, you can’t go out there! You’re not in any better shape than Jenny, If you catch a cold, what’s going to happen to the Shea family?” Ethan quickly stepped in to stop Andrew.
Right then, Ethan’s phone buzzed, and he couldn’t hide the excitement in his eyes. “We’ve got news about Jenny!
“After Jenny got out of the bathroom, she headed north and ran into Ms. Evans. Ms. Evans bullied her so badly that she had an episode, but then some girl came to the rescue and took Jenny away with her,” Ethan reported.
Andrew’s eyes narrowed, his voice tense. “Which girl?”
“It’s that young doctor who saved Jenny yesterday. Jenny’s totally attached to her,” Ethan stressed the word “attached,” making it clear just how much Jenny liked her.
Andrew’s frown relaxed a bit. Knowing Jenny was safe eased his mind, even if just a little. “Who is she?” he asked.
“She’s the adopted daughter from the Sherman family, but they kicked her out. We still don’t know where she is… Ethan swallowed nervously. “And Jenny got rid of her tracker, so we’ve lost her signal
Thinking of that solitary figure, Andrew felt some of the tension in his face case. Knowing Jenny was with her actually let him breathe a little caser Somehow, he just had thus gut feeling–she would never hurt Jenny.
The Shea family reigned suprenie in Kingtonelle, and Andrew had seen countless people fawn over Jenny for her wealth and status. All the people were only to be coldly ignored.
But dus girl was different. Jenny didn’t just tolerate her, she genuinely liked her. That piqued Andrew’s curiosity even more. Frankly, the whole thing struck hum as odd
Andrew barked out his orders “Track down where that girl is staying. I want Jenny in front of me by tomorrow night.” He shot Ethan a cold glare “If you screw up again, kiss your year–end bonus goodbye”
