My time in Wismuth was the most relaxing period I’d experienced since getting married. There were no daily stresses about raising a child and no arguments with Theodore.
During a video call, Lily even remarked, “You look so much youthful. Your complexion’s improved a lot too.”
I touched my face. The constant exhaustion and emotional strain from my previous life had made me look at least ten years older than my actual age.
Hayden knocked on my door, inviting me to go dig clams with him.
Through the camera, Lily’s gaze drifted past me to look at Hayden, who was behind me.
She said with amusement, “Don’t tell me you two are rekindling your relationship?”
“What are you saying? At this age? We’re not kids anymore.” I quickly put a stop to Lily’s playful teasing.
Hayden didn’t say anything, but the joy in his eyes was unmistakable.
“Alright. We’re heading out now. Come visit if you get the chance,” I hastily said and hung up.
With that, Hayden and I walked toward the beach.
