Chapter 48
Leonansa De Lanca
Will I get over it” She asked.
Ulooked over at her, wondering what she was talking about. Her voice was so quiet and lunken, Frankl lately hear her. I til my head slowly
Alessia’s mouth opens and for a while, she struggles to even get the word out as if they’ve pobommon and could harm her in any way. But then, she socks in a breath, frowning
“Killing someone.” She rasps and clenches her eyes sluit.
I walk towards the eilge of the sota and sit on the arrest. She still does) look at me. She’s trapped in her mind and I hate to think what camage is going on in their
“Maybe.” I admit. “I don’t know”
On the other hand though, when I kill someone, it doesn’t even truke me flinch. It’s a part of my blood. A part of who I am and I don’t think twice about the person because they most probably deserved what they got and are not word my time.
Alessia sniffles, drawing my attention back to her. She was screaming at the wall ahead. “He was such a young boy”
Lexhale a silent sigh. “I didn’t say it would be easy”
“I don’t know how you guys do it” She tuma uji her nose and 1 do not blame her. Killing isn’t for everybody. Sometimes, I don’t think it’s for anybody but it’s about becoming indiferent to it, growing thick skin and pushing it to the back of your mind otherwise, it will you from the
inside out.
I remember the
time I saw a dead body. it fucked me up when I was seven
My dad said that it would make me stronger to see a dead body. It probably would’ve been better if the guts weren’t half–splattered across the floor. I ran to the toilet crying and throwing up. My ilad was Isghly closappointed in me after that.
“We just have to do it to protect ourselves. In this world, it’s kill or be killed. Remember that.”
Alesia inhales and turns her burning eyes towards nie. “Do you remember the first person you killed?”
I stared at her for a while and then I cleared I my throat.
“The first person I killeil was a man who stole from my father and also tried to impersonate him,” I say with a calnt voice.
“How did you do it”
My jaw clenches at the memory.
- y. It’s one that I don’t like to remember but if it’s going to make Alessia feel better in any hule way, then I’m happy to
1 slit his throat”
Alessia doesn’t even flinch. She shows no reaction. “How old were you?”
My tongue extends to lick my bottom lip
“Fourteen”
“Fourteen?” She’s breathless. “Why would your father allow you to do th
that at Fourteen!”
I shrug but deep down, I know why. He tried to train me and my brother from a young age but the focus was especially on me. He wanted in la take on his name in the empire. He wanted me to be lethal. He wanted me to be the next leader and he did not rest until he had crafted me into his perfect puppet
“Because he is a powerful man and saying no wasn’t exactly an option”
Alessia’s mouth falls open in shock and I shouldn’t exactly be focusing on her plump lips, especially now that it’s particularly swollen. I glance away because I’ll start having flashbacks of those lips wrapped around my cock.

“Were you okay
“I had to be.” I said. “There was no roo
was no room for disobedience or weakness with my father.”
Alessia inhales slowly. “But were you okay?”
I chew on the inside of my lip. “Overtime, yes. Now, it doesn’t bother me anymore.”
Her eyes closed and I realized that she doesn’t need to be reminded that I kill people for a living, that taking away someone’s life is something I need to do to keep my empire in check.
“It’s going to feel raw now,” I say to catch her attention again. “But soon, you’ll realize that you had to do it to survive. It’ll make you stronger.
Alessia bites on her lips and sinks back on the sofa. “I don’t know if taking a life is going to make me stronger or weaker. This is nothing like a miscarriage.
I pulled myself away from the sofa and stood over her but she was not looking at me. “Don’t let it eat at you” I say deeply. “Otherwise, you’ll be stuck in this mindset forever.”
She doesn’t look at me again so I take the opportunity to walk away and place my empty mug in the kitchen. Russo would be home soon, could get her into a better mindset. I hated seeing her like this. So down and very opposite from the spitfire I was used to.
Alessia Guiman
It takes three days to stop having nightmares of the intruder. But it’s not always him. Sometimes it’s Enzo.
I guess that incident triggered everything Enzo did to me.
maybe he
Sometimes, it’s about not being able to get to the gun in time. Other times, I do reach the gun in time and I experienced what I did over again.
Then I wake up flustered and sick to my stomach. I try to take what Leonardo said with a pinch of salt, that I shouldn’t let it eat me alive. But I just can’t help it if it’s haunting my dreams and making me relive the whole experience over and over again.
I had just gotten off a call from Isabell when Russo poked his head into my room. Ever since the incident, she has called me every hour. If she wasn’t such a sweet human being, it would’ve been annoying.
Russo smiles when he sees that I’m already up and places a hot cup of coffee on my nightstand. Thank you,” I say, gratefully.
Last night was the first time I dreamt of something normal. Well, almost normal.
It was about Leonardo. I hadn’t known him to be so open about his past before. I didn’t even know he had a brother
Why wasn’t he helping to run the empire!
There’s just a lot to the story that I don’t know yet.
Considering how we can’t seem to get our hands off each other and the sneaky hot sex. I didn’t think our weird friendship–relationship–whatever it is would turn so intimate as for him to open up about his past.
Maybe it’s just a one–time thing. Something he said to make me feel better in his twisted
“How are you feeling this morning?” Russo asks, leaning against my wardrobe and crossing his arms.
I nod. “I slept well and I’m doing okay. So I’m ready to get my day going” Russo purses his lips and studies me. “You sure!”
“Positive.” I flashed him a smile.
“Alright”
“Hey.” I leaned forward as he was about to leave my room. “I was thinking. I want to go back to training today, will you train with me?”
I watch as my brother’s eyes narrow. “Al, you’ve barely given yourself time to recover. Your ribs are still bruised and the doctor specifically ordered you on bed rest.”
“But I don’t want to forget any of my training. I don’t want it to go to waste.”
“Nope.” He says loudly. “It’s not happening.
Your face is still bruised, and your ribs could take weeks, if not months to re
to recover. You need to rest your

body, Al. This isn’t a game. This is real life.”
i thinks
I sunk back into the bed and nodded. There’s no point arguing with him when he’s in his big brother mode. He still thinks that this was his fault, that he should’ve been here. But the damage is already done.
“Alright.” I murmur.
Russo breathes out a harsh sigh. He walks towards my bed and presses a kiss to the top of my head.
“Rest, watch a movie. We can get back to training when the doctor says it’s okay to. I’m only looking out for you Al. You shouldn’t be in this mess in the first place and I don’t want your recovery to last longer than it needs to be”
I glanced up at him, offering him a small smile. I know he means well. He has shown me that he’s a changed person and would go to any length now to protect me from anything that would harm me
“I know.” I finally nod in agreement. “I just wanted to get up and do something.”
“I’ve got to step out for a bit but Leonardo will be here. Anthonio might head over later too, so you won’t be by yourself.”
“Why can’t Isabella come over?” I asked. I’ve missed her so much.
“It’s not safe for her too. I might be a target and they might come at me through her
I dig my teeth into my bottom lip harshly. “You don’t think Landon would be as stupid to also try to get at her!”
Russo tries to hide his grimace but fails miserably. “If I’m being honest, I don’t know. I think he’s trying to play a little game but we’re not having any of it Leonardo has a plan and we’re going to get rid of him.”
My eyes widened in shock at his response.
