“Let me see” Leonardo’s voire is so calm that it forces me to look at him.

Russo reluctantly lets go of my body and delicately turns me towards Leonardo. He gently takes my hand in his and I let out

For the first time, I glanced down at my arm. For a flesh wound, there’s a ridiculous amount of blood all over my cardigan and down the length of my arm I squeezed my fists and the curvibrations but it wasn’t nearly as bad as getting my ribs bashed into the counter by that intruder.
I slowly shake my head but my body continues to tremble.
“She still probably in shock, Russo said. “Her body is still full of adrenaline. It will hurt tomorrow.”

Take Alessia upstairs. I’ll call the doctor and also take care of this mess. I’m going to have to phone Italy” He said, running his hands through his hair.
He looked way older than his age at that moment and I wanted to wrap my arms around him in comfort even though the one physically hurt..

Russo does nothing more than nod. He tugs me into his arms and I rest my head on his shoulders as he carries me upstairs. He doesn’t take me to my room but to the large bathroom at the other end of the house.
He sets me down on the toilet and takes off my cardigan, discarding the blood–soaked material on the ground. He inspects. the wound again and I stare blankly at the wall. I heard him stand up from the floor, retrieve a cup of water, and hold it to my lips.
I gulped down the cool liquid to dampen my dry mouth
Waves of nausea hit my stomach over and over but I shook my head. You gotta keep it together. Keep it together.
Soon, the doctor makes an appearance and patches up my arm still staring at the wall because I can’t feel anything
I ran away from home to live a better life away from the maha and criminal gangs but I guess I was naive and stupid to think that I could escape that part of my life because it seemed to follow me no matter where I went
Russo directs me back to my room and he waits while I shower. Ineeded to rid myself of the stench of blood sweat and
I don’t know how long I took in the shower but long enough for the bathroom to be steamy and for me to turn light–headed. I shut off the water dried myself and threw on some clean clothes
When enter my bedroom again, Russo is still waiting for me. He stands up when I emerge.
“How are you feeling”
“I just want to sleep”

“AL” He steps closer and reaches out for me.
I ducked away from his touch, stepping away, “Please” “I don’t want to leave you alone.

Every part of my body feels like it’s beginning to crumble and I just want to lay in bed and crawl under the covers. Anything to get rid of the sound of gunshots. Anything to distract me from what just happened.
It’s always something bad after something had. That’s exactly why I wanted this kind of life behind me because when will the good come!
“Okay.” He says hesitantly. “I’ll come see you in the morning? 1st stood there. I didn’t nod or shake my head, nothing.

Russo releases a sharp sigh. He stepped forward and pressed a delicate kiss to my forehead and I closed my eyes. “I’ll let Anthonio and father know what happened”
“No, please. I just can’t talk about it right now to either of them.”
Russo looked at me, and then he nodded. Then he was gone, shutting the door behind him.
I stood still for a moment too long. I took two steps towards my bed and perched on the edge. My hands trembled in my lap and I couldn’t control the tears that rolled down my cheeks. I det even bother to wipe them away.
Another person is dead.
Not just another person. Leonardo’s brother.
This isn’t me. This has never been me and I don’t want to slip pinto this world
It might’ve been a minute or an hour but I didn’t move. I daln‘ move an inch.
The door to my bedroom creaked open but I didn’t even have the strength to look up. I stare at the same spot on the wall, still feeling numb.
“Alessia
Leonardo’s voice floats through my bedroom. I sucked in a silent breath but my eyes didn’t move towards him
It all my fault. My fault he lost his brother.
“You should be lying down, resting.” He steps closer. My lips partho force more air into my lungs.
“Alessia, talk to me, amore.”
I scrunch up my face and pluck up the courage to move my eyesho his, they feel so swollen and sore. Too much crying.
Leonardo flicks his eyes between mine, trying to read my blank expression. “Co.”
He doesn’t move and I grind my teeth into one another. I push up on my feet, knees wobbling beneath me. Everything sways including my gut that’s cursing me for being in this situation once again.
I stare at him through damp lashes. “I said go”
Leonardo’s eyes hardened but he remained still.
Why wasn’t he listening to me? I couldn’t stand to look at him right now. I was filled with too much guilt.

My feet take a step forward and I push at his shoulders but he doesn’t budge so I push him again and again until more tears. are leaking from my eyes

Leonardo wrapped his hands around my wrists and tugged me towards him, our chests almost brushing “You shouldn’t be alone right now.” His voor is deep but not harsh.
My eyes rapidly blink once and then twice. I tugged at his grip but he won’t release me. I noticed his eyes softened and he lowered his head to mine, I could see the guilt flashing in his eye
