Chapter 95
Leonardo De Luca rdo De
“You make a move, and she’s dead,” Landon says as he glances over at Russo before turning his attention to me. He smiles at my reaction and then steps forward.
“Oh, Leonardo. Don’t tell me you fell for Russo’s pretty little sister?”
“Shut the fuck up,” I spat at him.
“Lower your guns.” He snarled back. “Or she’s fucking dead.”
I take one glance at Russo and we both nod our heads at the same time, my eyes immediately turning to Alfonso, pleading with him not to try anything funny, not when the barrel of a gun is at the back of Alessia’s skull
Thankfully. Alfonso lowered his gin at the same time we did.
I need to think fast on how to get us out of this fucking situation.
Alessia Guzman
hours before.
I was already thinking of going back to the house because I didn’t exactly like how I left things with Russ storming out on him didn’t exactly help matters.
know he’s still a bit moody and
Ahhough, I don’t understand why he was this upset though. Growing up, Russo wasn’t the best of brothers. Unlike Anthonio, he always acted like I didn’t exist but all of a sudden now, he’s the big bad overprotective brother.
I’m still angry at him though. He shot Leonardo in the fucking shoulder. He knew how much all that blood and violence affected me yet he still went ahead to do it
He thinks he knows Leonardo better because he’s known him the longest but I know him differently
I doubt he’d sit down with his boss to have a heart–to–heart about feelings. They might claim to be friends but I know that they don’t have that kind of friendship.
I trusted Leonardo with everything in me right now, even though at first, I’d rather be on my way to hell than entertain the idea of marrying him or being in his possession.
Leonardo has been so busy lately that I’ve barely heard anything from him. We’ve sent each other a few texts and calls but he seemed stressed.
My eyes glanced at my phone at the text message I sent to Leonardo when I woke up. He hasn’t responded and I presumed he’s dealing with something important because he always replies,
I can’t help but feel like a clingy bitch but what else was I supposed to do?

I threw my phone down onto the soda and huffed out a sigh. I stood up from the sofa and walked across the kitchen, my legs becoming restless. I glanced over at Dante who was standing at a spot by the corner, always in the shadows. He’s watching me curiously like a hawk,
My head turned to the window and I glanced up at the baby blue sky, not a cloud to be seen.
Birds flew over the trees in my back garden and I wrapped my arms over my chest. Some fresh air might do some good.
I looked back at Dante whose wuws were still fixed on me. Creepy.
“May we go for a walk?” I suggested.
A ugh falls from his lips and he peers out the window. “Alright.” He said. I wasn’t expecting him to give in so easily though. “But only around the
urskims of this place. I’m not taking you too far out.”
“I just want to get some fresh air and streich my legs”
Dante nods Leonardo didn’t say anything g about not going for a walk. It’s just a walk after all, Twenty minutes at that and then we’re home and I’ll

Chapter 95
I grabbed my coat and my shoes and we headed out, with Dante informing the other guards that we were just walking around the perimeter. They nodded back at him and let us walk into a wooden area that was silent, apart from the melodious tunes of the birds.
I took a deep breath because I was already enjoying this. The feeling of being outside the house for the first time in a week. It feels almost liberating.
I glanced at Dante out of the corner of my eye and decided to strike up a conversation to make do for the company.
“Have you always been a bodyguard?” I asked him
My question seemed to startle him because he turned his head away from whatever it was he was looking at and focused on my eyes.
“Not always.”
“What did you do before?”
“I used to work for Leonardo’s father back in Italy when he was still active as the Don but I took a step back when I lost my wife. His jaw tensed as he looked forward again.
My heart misses a beat in my chest and I frown. “I’m so sorry, Dante”
He sucks in a breath. “That’s life. It throws shit at you and you have to deal with it‘
“You must miss her.” I whispered as I shoved my hand into my coat pocket. “Every damn day.”
“Do you have kids?” I asked
Dante shook his head. “We never did have children. A part of me is glad though because I don’t think I could’ve been a father without her.”
“How did she die!”
Wow! I’m such a curious mess.
“She fell ill
I blinked at him, my chest filled with pity for this man. I was also a bit surprised that he was opening up to me. But then, he’s also been stuck in the house with and we mostly sit in silence.
“Thank you for coming on this walk with me.” I say sincerely.
“I think we both needed it” “Indeed.” I nodded at his words.
Dante turns and focuses on me. “You do understand what you’re signing up for when you get with a mafia boss right?”
“I know.” I nodded. “I just can’t help how I feel”
“I’ve known Leo since we were little boys.” He starts and I hug my coat closer to my body.

“He’s never let himself get
My
eyes blinked rapidly at his choice of words, “What do you mean?”
“I mean, Leonardo needed someone to curb him. He’s been acting ton irrationally, off the rail. But since you came in the picture, he’s softer.”
“He knows I don’t like violence,” I commented.
Dante nods. “He wants to please you. The old Leonardo wouldn’t give a fuck about any other person. Hell, he killed his brother for you. He’s changing”
