Merus
Before leaving, Celeste went to the restroom.
As soon as she came out, she ran into Vivian Bennett walking towards her, with a shapely figure and an incredibly pure face, the type any man would like.
“Mrs. Sinclair, why haven’t you left yet?” Vivian had no intention of hiding anything at all.
She deliberately exposed her chest; the love marks left on it were both a display and a provocation.
Celeste stopped, scrutinizing her.
In her previous life, she used ruthless tactics, making Vivian back off in less than a day. Made her ‘voluntarily‘ quit as secretary and ship off to San Francisco, all while making it look like a fair deal.
But now, Celeste couldn’t be bothered to deal with her.
She looked away, walking past Vivian towards the elevator instead of responding, but after only a few steps, coffee was splashed on her back.
“Oh”
Vivian exclaimed, raising the cup in her hand, “Oh dear, I’m so sorry~ I just helped Mr. Sinclair release his stress, and my hand is still trembling.”
Hearing these words, Celeste felt as if she saw those dirty images in the office, making her sick to her stomach.
Celeste was too tired to get involved in their relationship, but that didn’t mean she could be humiliated.
So she quickly stepped forward and slapped Vivian across the face.
Unexpectedly, Xavier happened to walk out.
Vivian–sharp–eyed and even quicker with her hands–stumbled forward, dropping to her knees in front of her. She covered her face, her voice trembling as she begged, “I’m so sorry, Mrs. Sinclair, I swear I didn’t mean it! Please, don’t be mad…”
Seeing this, Xavier rushed over.
He shoved Celeste aside, and her already scalded back hit the corner of the wall, making her gasp sharply.
But Xavier didn’t notice, instead he bent down and asked Vivian on the ground:“What’s going on?”
Vivian pouted, saying fearfully:“I just had a bit of low blood sugar and felt dizzy for a moment, accidentally spilling coffee on Mrs. Sinclair’s back. Then she got angry and slapped me, and my head feels so dizzy. But I don’t blame her.”
Hearing this, Xavier glared at Celeste.
His eyes burned with unsuppressed rage, he snapped, “She’s just an intern, fresh out of school–cut her some slack! Of course
clumsy at first. Do you really have to nitpick every little thing and blow it all out of proportion?”
After speaking, he immediately carried her into the office.
Looking at that anxious man, Celeste’s grievances turned into tears.
‘s gonna be a little
She remembered this one time–just a tiny cut on her finger, but Xavier had completely lost his shit, freaking out and dragging her to the ER. The doctor
on duty didn’t know whether to laugh or roll his eyes. And now? Now he’s out there bleeding for somebody else.
She’d clearly decided to let go, but her heart still ached so much.
She endured the pain and stood up straight, leaving the company and going straight to the County Clerk’s Office to handle the divorce.
Once the cooling–off period was over, she and Xavier would be completely finished.
Back home, Xavier hadn’t returned.
He only sent a message saying he had to work overtime at the company, and reminded her not to be late for tomorrow’s dinner.
It was a client dinner that had been agreed upon earlier.
Celeste only replied with ‘Okay‘.
She neither mentioned the grievances she suffered today nor exposed his overtime lie, yet again.
Because it didn’t matter anymore.
The next day, when she arrived at the clubhouse, she didn’t see Xavier; instead, she saw Vivian.
“Mr. Sinclair has a meeting that hasn’t ended yet. so he asked me to come over first to give you a heads–up and, uh, learn the ropes a bit.”

Vivian had completely changed her usual demeanor, acting entirely professional. Celeste could only lead her into the private room.

At the dinner party, Vivian was always toasting, practically pressing her entire body against the client, and the implications were obvious to anyone with
eyes.
Celeste had always disdained such behavior, so she got up and went to the restroom.
When she returned, the private room was surrounded by people. She pushed through the crowd and walked in, only to see a chaotic scene.
Xavier had arrived.
But the client was lying in a pool of blood…
