David was stunned.
He had never seen his family show such respect to anyone before, especially to someone younger.
Jackson seemed used to it.
“Yes, I received it. That’s fine,” Janie said calmly.
Mr. Smith smiled. “This is our payment. Though you might not care much about money, we insist on giving it to you.”
This caught Janie’s interest.
She actually did care about money to some extent.
Jackson smirked, knowing that while Janie was wealthy, her work required substantial funding.
“Of course, of course,” David nodded eagerly.
Mr. Smith presented a large check along with some valuable antiques and artwork.
Before Janie could ask about purchasing their medicinal herb, James spoke up, “We heard you’re knowledgeable about medicine. We happen to have some herbs that might interest you.”
Janie’s eyes lit up when she saw exactly what she wanted among their collection. “Thank you, I’ll take them.”
Seeing Janie’s softened attitude, the Smith family relaxed visibly.

They were relieved their strategy worked – ‘Miss Janie, being noble–minded, wasn’t interested in money but in meaningful items!‘
Fortunately, they thought of it!.
“We’ll deliver them to your home soon,” the Smith family promised.
After more profuse thanks, Janie and Jackson left, leaving David behind.
“Janie is such an exceptional young lady. If you like her, make sure to treat her well!” Olivia advised her son.
David blushed. “Mom, stop it. We’re just friends. I need to go attend to them now.”
Olivia shook her head and said no more.
“We should also head out.”

At the party, Janie and Jackson showed no interest in dancing despite numerous invitations from admirers drawn to their striking appearances.
Xena, dancing with Tyler, became distracted watching them.
She noticed Tyler’s gaze fixating on Janie and felt uneasy.
After their earlier encounter with Janie, her mother and siblings had wanted to leave early, but Xena had convinced them to
stay.

Now seeing Tyler’s attention on Janie, Xena’s mood darkened.
First the TV show, and now this – was Janie back to take everything from her?
Lost in these thoughts, Xena stepped on Tyler’s feet several times. His face turned grim.
As soon as the song ended, he abruptly left Xena standing there, Xena’s face flushed with embarrassment.

After searching around, David finally found Janie and Jackson in a corner.
With anticipation, he approached them. “Janie, may I have this dance?”
“Sorry, I’m not interested,” Janie declined flatly.
David looked disappointed but understanding.
“Alright then.” After hesitating, he continued, “Janie, I had no idea you were related to the Jenkins family. You’re really Ryan’s sister?”
Having studied abroad for so long, David was out of touch with the intricate relationships of high society.
The Jenkins family had kept Janie’s situation tightly under wraps, known only to a select few, certainly not someone like him.
Jackson glared at David, his eyes promising pain.
David froze, realizing the colossal blunder he’d made, mentioning this in front of Jackson.
Janie, however, remained unfazed. “Something like that,” she admitted. “I don’t like talking about it. If you want to keep chatting with us, don’t bring it up again.”
David nodded quickly.
Jackson smiled slightly, satisfied with Janie’s response.
“You should attend to your other guests,” Janie suggested. “We’ll be leaving soon after getting some fresh air.”
“Leaving so soon?” David started to protest but caught himself. “Well, if you must.”
Sensing Janie and Jackson’s lack of enthusiasm to chat further, David excused himself.
Shortly after David left, Jackson went to the restroom.
Then Janie frowned as Xena approached.
“What do
you
want now?” Janie asked coldly.
After checking no one was around, Xena put on a fake smile and walked closer. “Janie, I-”
“Whatever you want to say, I’m not interested. Get lost,” Janie cut her off harshly.
Xena’s smile vanished.
Instead of leaving, she moved closer and whispered, “You’re back to try to rejoin the Jenkins family, aren’t you? Well, not while I’m around!”
Janie looked at her like she was crazy. “You’re seriously disturbed. Keep bothering me and you’ll regret it.”

Enraged and beyond reason, thinking about her parents, brothers, and Tyler, Xena maled coldly. “What to see what happens if I jump from here?”

Xena stared in shock.
Suddenly she screamed, “Janie, don’t do anything rash!”
There was a loud splash as something hit the water.
“Help! Help!” Xena started screaming frantically.
‘Serves her right, Janie thought, watching Xena’s struggles with a cold indifference.
Of course, she could have easily fished her out.
But why should she?
The commotion drew everyone’s attention.
Jackson rushed to Janie’s side. “Are you okay?”
Janie shook her head.
David quickly ran over.
Xena was still screaming for help.
The Smith family quickly arranged a rescue.
The Jenkins family and Tyler also arrived.
Kathy nearly fainted at the sight, and Ryan and Ethan had to hold her back.
“My poor Xena!” Kathy cried out.
Zion was furious, “Janie! How could you do this to Xena!”
He lunged for Janie but Jackson immediately kicked him away.
