Emily fell into a dead silence, her eyes brimming with resentment.
She was really reluctant to go hiking.
But now that everyone else was climbing the mountain, she couldn’t afford to be the odd one out.
So, Emily had to pull herself together and catch up with the group.
After all, she even didn’t have enough money to rent any means of transportation.
Jason. Xena, let’s go together! Emily shouted.
Suppressing her irritation, she quickened her pace to catch up.
Janie and Jackson were leading the way at the front of the group.
Ryan and Zion were a bit slower as they were distracted taking care of Xena.
Jason managed to catch up with them, and Emily was hot on his heels, which slightly annoyed the Jenkins brothers.
Everyone was on edge now, except for Janie and Jackson.
“Miss Janie, Mr. Moore, wait for the rest of us!” Jason hollered.
But upon hearing his words, everyone, including Janie, instead sped up their steps.
Jason felt rather embarrassed.
Emily gave him a disdainful glance.
Emily tried to strike up a conversation with Xena. “Sweet little Xena, you…”
But as soon as they heard Emily’s voice, Ryan and Zion quickened their pace even more and walked away.
The Jenkins brothers unanimously chose to avoid the conversation that might ensue.
Emily was completely speechless.
She thought to herself, ‘Why are all those people so blind to the situation?‘

Once again, Emily forced down her irritation and managed to put on a smile as she asked Xena, “Little Xena, could I borrow some money from you?”
Xena didn’t respond.
She was completely absorbed in keeping an eye on her two older brothers, fearing that they might leave her behind and go to Janie.
Not getting an answer, Emily could hardly hold back her anger.
Jason looked at Emily with a smug expression.
Emily raised her voice and said, “Little Xena!”
That shout jolted Xena out of her deep thoughts, but at the same time, a hint of disgust welled up inside her.

Suppressing her own annoyance, Xena said, “What can I do for you, Ms. Yates?”
Emily remained oblivious to Xena’s deeper feelings and blurted out, “Little Xena, you all made so much money before f mean, could you possibly lend me some?”
Jason was quietly observing, ready to follow suit and borrow some money too after Emily succeeded.
Jason thought Xena would make it, and Xena herself believed so as well.
Unexpectedly, Xena turned her down flat. “I’m sorry, Ms. Yates. All the money our team has was earned by my two sider brothers, so I don’t have the right to lend it to you”
There was a look of self–reproach on Xena’s face as she said, “I’m sorry I couldn’t be of help to you. Ms. Yabes!
Then, as if feeling embarrassed and ill at ease, Xena quickly walked away from Emily.
Emily and Jason were stunned on the spot.
Emily thought to herself, “This isn’t how it’s supposed to be!
‘After all, Ryan and Zion are Xena’s own brothers. There’s no way they wouldn’t give her any money at all

Jason, on the other hand, was secretly glad that he wasn’t the one who got humiliated. But considering that be still had a dozen or so dollars on him, and the thought that Emily might turn to him for a loan next, Jason took of rigir away
Shame and anger filled Emily’s heart.
After Xena had walked a good distance away, she let out a sneer.
Xena was currently in a rather tense atmosphere with her two brothers. How could she possibly do something to dispicar them just for the sake of Emily and Jason, those two fools?

Janie and Jackson, who were leading the way, had already reached the mountaintop.
The two of them didn’t find it particularly challenging at all, but David and Molly, who were following behind, were pretty
worn out.
David plopped down on the ground directly and exclaimed, “You two are in such great shape! Don’t you feel tired at all”
Jackson grinned smugly and said, “Looks like even if I try to be humble, it’s hard to hide my extraordinary abilities”
Janie remained silent.
She thought to herself, ‘Are you even the least bit humble?’
David and Molly just forced a wry smile.
After quite a while, the Jenkins siblings arrived together.
Ryan looked at Janie, still hesitating to say something.
All of a sudden, Xena bowed deeply to Janie and said sincerely, “Janie, I sincerely apologize for my previous mistakes. I beg for your forgiveness and hope that we can still be friends in the future.”
Jackson frowned, looking displeased.
