Chapter 274
“I’ll take you home, Mr. Galloway,” she said in a distant, indifferent tone, as if they were nothing more than strangers who had met once.
But even though Julian had realized the truth, he still couldn’t bring himself to refuse. “…Alright, thank you.”
Julian never thought that one day he’d end up in such a cautious situation. He never thought that even a little kindness from Rosalie could make him feel a sense of joy inside.
“Get in the car.” Rosalie didn’t offer to help him. Instead, she turned and went to the driver’s seat first.
Julian’s gaze lingered on Rosalie’s back, and he bitterly laughed to himself, thinking, ‘She really is a heartless woman.
Knowing that playing the victim wouldn’t help, he could only drag his heavy feet, open the passenger door, and sit inside.
His head throbbed with pain, as if a heavy load were inside it. His feet felt shackled, and every step drained all his strength.
The moment his body hit the seat back, it felt as if all his energy drained away. Perhaps it was seeing Rosalie that made all the tension he had held onto throughout the night dissipate. He seemed to exhale a sigh of relief and slowly closed his eyes.
Rosalie fastened her seatbelt, glanced at Julian, who had his eyes closed and wasn’t moving, and reminded him, “Put on your seatbelt.”
No response.
Rosalie frowned. “Julian, put on your seatbelt.”
Still no response.
Rosalie’s heart sank. She reached out and touched his forehead. The heat in his palm seemed to have increased even more. “Julian!”
She shook his shoulder. Julian could feel Rosalie calling his name, but at that moment, his head hurt so much that even opening his eyes felt like it took all his strength.
The next second, he felt Rosalie’s body lean closer to him, her upper body pressing slightly against his.
His heart skipped a beat. It felt like he didn’t want to miss this moment, so he summoned all his strength and opened his eyes. Through his blurred vision, he saw Rosalie’s body leaning against him, her face turned in profile, brows furrowed.
He tried to lift his hand to hug her, but after several attempts, his hand fell limply.
Rosalie kept a serious face and helped Julian buckle his seatbelt, then drove straight to the hospital.
At the Westfield Medical Center, the doctor stated, “Acute pneumonia has resulted in a high fever. Please arrange for his hospitalization.”
“Okay.” Rosalie furrowed her brows, went to take care of the hospitalization procedures, and after Julian was settled into the hospital, she called Any again.
Thankfully, Anya picked up. “Rosalie, what’s going on? I saw several missed calls from you. I was just about to call you back.”
Anya explained her previous absence on the phone, and Rosalie didn’t think much of it. She glanced at Julian lying on the bed with his brows furrowed, then said to Anya, “Julian’s got acute pneumonía and is in the hospital. Can you come over?*
“What? He’s in the hospital? Anya gasped, “Rosalie, can you stay with that stubborn kid for me? I’m on my way over right now?”
Right after that, Rosalie could hear hurried footsteps on the other end of the phone–Anya must have been heading out.
After hanging up. Rosalie frowned and glanced at Julian.
Once she discovered he had spent the entire night out in the cold with a fever, she realized he wouldn’t be alright. Sure enough, he ended up in the hospital.
