Chapter 21: Protecting Mrs.
Knapp’s Pregnancy
Hope, obediently clutching her phone, waited by the roadside. The ointment on her back wound had dulled the pain, yet a deep discomfort lingered within her. It felt as though the wounds of her past life had been inflicted upon her once again.
Although this injury was one she had chosen to endure, how could she let herself be saddened by Mr. Newton’s actions?
She would cement her heart in concrete and sever all familial ties!
Time passed, and soon a familiar black sedan stopped in front of her.
Easton opened the back door, and Hope slid

in, reclining against him, her head resting gently on his shoulder.
“Easton, it hurts so much.”
Her voice was hoarse, soft and tender, as though she were whining, her tone filled with unspoken sorrow.
Easton’s heart ached as he caught sight of the bloodstains and bandages visible through the slits in her gown. A murderous intent flashed in his eyes.
“Who did this to you?” His voice was cold, yet his tone was gentle, as though afraid of alarming her.
Hope was about to reveal that it was Griffin, but then she reconsidered. She didn’t want that perverse name polluting Easton’s ears.

“It was that old thief from the Newton family. I’ll make sure to repay thissdent” she said firmly.
Not wishing to dwell furtherronttiermatter, she shifted the subject, “Easton, l’i’msso hungry. Do we have anything to eattaat home?”
“Yes.”
“I want some clear noodle soup, with affieed egg on top.”
“Alright.”
“Easton~”
To prevent infection, Hope had taken some medicine at the hospital, leaving her head heavy with drowsiness, her eyelids growing heavier by the second.

Her murmurs trailed off as sleep claimed her, her entire body nestled contentedly by his side. Easton gently wrapped her in his arms, protecting her as though she were his precious treasure.
Hope ate nothing, instead sleeping soundly until morning.
When she awoke, her clothes had been changed into a nightgown, and her back had been re–bandaged. The thought that Easton may have been the one to do all this made her face flush with warmth.
After washing up and changing into fresh clothes, she descended to find James speaking on the phone in the living room.
Upon noticing Hope, he hurriedly concluded his conversation and respectfully greeted

her.
“Good morning, Madam.”
“And where is Easton?” Hope glanced around but did not spot him.
“Master has gone out for some errands but asked me to wait and inform you that the clothes you wore last night were changed by a housekeeper he arranged.”
Hope raised an eyebrow. “So it was a housekeeper who changed my clothes? I thought…”
They had even gone to the trouble of informing her.
“By the way, Madam, do you have any specific requirements for a housekeeper? I will hire one to take care of the housework

arrived, dressed once more in a graceful cheongsam, exuding elegance and composure.
“You’ve come,” Hope said, pushing a cup of milk toward her. “Drinking milk is good for the baby.”
Mrs. Knapp frowned. “So, you did realize I was pregnant yesterday!”
In truth, Mrs. Knapp had only learned of her pregnancy yesterday. After leaving the banquet, she had kept thinking about Hope’s words. Out of curiosity, she took a pregnancy test–and to her astonishment, she was indeed expecting!
She felt a mix of joy and fear. joy at the prospect of another child, but fear that this one might end in miscarriage as well.

“Didn’t you come as well? I heard you were hurt yesterday. I thought I might not see you today,” Mrs. Knapp had already planned to come looking for Hope if she didn’t show.
“I made the appointment, so of course, I’ll be here, Hope replied.
“So, what do you want to tell me? How did you know I was pregnant?”
Hope neatly folded a handkerchief and placed it on the table. “I could tell from your complexion yesterday. May I take your pulse?”
In truth, Hope wasn’t quite that gifted. She knew Mrs. Knapp was pregnant because in her past life, Mrs. Knapp had taken an interest in her at a banquet, wanting to invite her into the entertainment industry.

To stop Hope from overshadowing her, Sylvia had schemed to cause Mrs. Knapp’s miscarriage and frame Hope for it. The Knapp family had then turned against her, and the Newtons‘ hatred for Hope deepened.
Thus, when she saw Mrs. Knapp again, she decided to protect her pregnancy.
Mrs. Knapp, still uncertain, extended her hand and placed it on the handkerchief.
Hope closed her eyes, concentrating, and after a long moment, her mind formulated a plan.
Mrs. Knapp’s health was indeed poor, but not irreparably damaged. With the right herbal treatments, she could slowly improve, and the baby would be less likely to miscarry.
“Do you want to keep the baby? I can try to

Since she had conceived, she would keep the baby–even if it meant it might end in miscarriage or cause long–term damage to her body.
“Alright, I’ll help you.”
Hope took out a notebook and pen, carefully writing down a lengthy list of herbal recipes. Every detail, from ingredients to cooking methods, was meticulously outlined.
Mrs. Knapp was almost in awe.
“These herbs won’t harm me or the baby, will they?”
“No, unless you’re allergic to any specific herbs. To be safe, I suggest you get an allergy test.”

“Yes.”
Mrs. Knapp thought back to the story she’d heard the night before about Mr. Newton protecting Hope from a belt. She began to suspect that Hope’s interest in the entertainment industry had something to do with Noah and Sylvia.
“Alright, but I can only help you get a spot on the show. Whether or not you succeed depends entirely on your own efforts.”
“Agreed.”
Mrs. Knapp hesitated for a moment, then added, “Would you like me to help you sign with a company? A professional team could help you shape your image and create a script for you, which might make it easier to get noticed.”
