Chapter 6
Under Alexander’s icy gaze, 1 pressed my lips together tightly, trying my best to stay calm.
Yet, despite my resolve, the memories of eight years of torment in my previous life caused my fingers to tremble uncontrollably.
Lurned my head around. Alexander no longer looked at me. His voice was laced with disdain. “Were you planning to get pregnant in secret? Are humans born this greedy? Willing to do anything to carry my child and become my Luna? Or just you!”
1 frowned, my eyes darting toward Monica. Monica had bought the pill. Did this mean she still hadn’t given up on sending me off to Alexander?
Monica, under Alexander’s frosty stare, was already trembling like a leaf. Compared to Xander, Monica feared Alexander even more. She didn’t have the guts to scheme under his watchful eyes,
Then what was really going on here?
I looked up, finding myself surrounded by countless stares. Among them, one particular gaze felt distinct.
It belonged to Charlotte.
The subtle smirk on her lips reminded me of dark moments from my past. And sure enough, in the next moment
Charlotte turned her back to the crowd and grasped my hand in a gesture of concern.“Ava, I’m so sorry, but I couldn’t deceive Mr. Alexander or Xander.
so I had to come dean.”
“But I never expected you would use me to divert public outrage while secretly planning to conceive.”
“If I hadn’t come to comfort you and overheard your scheme, wouldn’t you have gotten your way? If you had truly gotten pregnant, what would happen to Mr. Alexander and me? Are you really that greedy like Mr. Alexander said? I don’t believe that!”
Tears streamed down Charlotte’s face as her voice broke with sobs, each word drenched in grievance. The crowd seethed with anger, rallying behind Charlotte with righteous indignation
“Everyone knows what she’s up to. She wants to replace Charlotte! If she really got pregnant, using the child as leverage, Alexander would have no choice but to bond with a human. By then, our family reputation would be utterly ruined!Throughout history, no alpha has ever bonded with a human!”
A man clenched his flats in fury. I’ve never seen such a shameless scheme in my life! Thank Luna Goddess Charlotte thought of the bigger picture and didn’t fall into her trap. Otherwise, a true pair of lovers would have been torn apart by her!”
“Alexander, you can’t keep, Ava around. Who knows what tricks she might pull next?”
Each word pierced my heart like a dagger. It was just like my past life–everyone rallied around Charlotte, casting me aside as worthless. I had heard it all before. I should be used to it by now.
I looked up only to meet Charlotte’s eyes. In the delicate gaze, there was a flicker of cunning-
For a moment, I froze, watching Charlotte wipe her tears. But she subtly turned her back to the crowd and smirked. A smirk full of mockery, Full of challenge
Charlotte had switched the medicine!
Then Charlotte spoke again, her lips barely moving. Her voice remained as gentle and imploring as ever.
“Mr. Alexander, please, show mercy to Ava. She didn’t mean it! Blame me for it. If it can safeguard the family’s honor and make up for your loss, I would do anything for you, even sacrificing my reputation.”
“Being able to become Mr. Alexander’s future mate is enough for me! I dare not ask for more! Let me wake up from this dream of being an ordinary werewolf!”
If I hadn’t caught that smug look, merely hearing Charlotte’s voice would have made anyone believe she was selfless and kind. It was at that moment I realized I had underestimated Charlotte
Living this life again, even though I had altered events, I had no magical powers–and my enemies certainly hadn’t become fools.
Charlotte basked in my tension. She wasn’t foolish enough to admit that the woman in the photos was her.
Alexander was a ruthless businessman. He and Xander must have weighed the pros and cons last night. Did they truly not know the woman’s identity? If she confessed, Alexander would think her manipulative, and Xander would deem her calculating
Her wolf continued analyzing with a venomous voice “BUT THIS SHOW OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WOULD EARN ALEXANDER’S TRUST, AND EVEN XANDER WOULD LOOK AT US WITH RESPECT. MOST IMPORTANTLY, NO ONE WOULD EVER BELIEVE AVA AGAIN.”
As a human, I shouldn’t be able to sense the emotions of other werewolves.
