Chapter 10
“You are trying to make a mockery of me, and I won’t stand for that. Consider this a warning; next time you try to play me for a fool, I won’t be as forgiving,” I told her as I handed her the stack of papers.
I could hear her growl deep in her throat as she turned away and stormed out of my office.
I sighed; I didn’t think Emily was ever going to be a person I was going to get along with. I didn’t want another enemy, but I was sick of being walked all over. It was time I got the respect I deserved.
Later that day, as I was passing through with my lunch, I could hear Emily and some of the other girls snickering in the break room.
“It’s not fair,” Emily muttered. “I was supposed to be the bank manager. But Prince David’s lover appears and takes it out from under my nose.”
“Where did she even come from?” One of the girls asked.
“He probably dug her out of the trash,” Emily sneered, making the other girls chuckle.

Joseph sat in his office, taking care of some company affairs. He was trying hard to get Anna out of his mind. However, his wolf seemed irritable. He thought of mind linking her, but he knew she would just deny it again. She wanted nothing to do with him and she’s made that clear.
He looked at the clock; it was almost noon. Usually, around now, Anna would have appeared with a little basket of food for him. She always made him lunch and brought it to him in his office. He typically dismissed it and she would leave the basket on his desk before walking out. He never even thanked her for all those lunches she brought him. But then again, he never thought he needed to thank her. He provided for her and gave her everything she wanted; her job as his luna was simple.
“Sir?” Aiden walked into his office carrying the bank slip. Joseph sent him to the central bank to deposit some cash. “I was at the bank, and I saw Anna.”
Joseph frowned and looked up at him.
“What was she doing at the bank?” Joseph asked.
He couldn’t imagine that Anna would even have a bank account. She never used to when they were married and now that she was back to being a rogue orphan, she had no reason to open a bank account.
He thought of what Ella was saying about how Anna made a fortune selling her body. But Anna has always been a quiet and shy girl; the thought of her being a prostitute didn’t make sense to him.
“It seems she was working,” Aiden told him. “The girl’s that work the bank said she’s the new bank manager.”
Joseph’s eyes widened at the news.
The bank manager? Anna?
Joseph knew that it was difficult to even get a normal job at the King Packs Central Bank. Ella tried to get a job there once, but she was refused. How could a rogue wolf get a job there?
He couldn’t help but think about how Anna showed up at the celebrity party in the arms of Prince David and he remembered what everyone was saying about it.
Could she really be his lover?
“I have a job for you,” Joseph said to Aiden. “I need you to find out everything you can about how she got that job; and her relationship with the prince.”
Aiden looked unsure for a moment, but he nodded slowly.
“Yes, sir,” he said.
I’m giving you 3 days to do that,” Joseph told him.
He nodded again.
“May I ask why you still care so much about her?”
