Chapter 17
She turned her body and met Joseph’s eyes. His eyes widened in shock as he saw his ex–luna standing before him.
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing; his breath got caught in his throat and he thought he was going to throw up for a moment. He glanced over at Ella who was also staring at her with her mouth hanging open. His mother, on the other hand, didn’t look as phased.
“This can’t be…” Ella breathed. “You?!”
“You are the people who want to buy my painting?” Anna asked, blinking with confusion.
“How could you possibly be the artist?!” Ella screeched. “You are so plain and boring all the time, you aren’t interested in art and you sure aren’t smart enough to pull something like this off.”
“What?” Anna went to ask but Ella cut her off.
“What did you do to the real Anna? Were you jealous of her because of her beauty, fame, and glory?” Ella continued badgering.
“Ella, that’s enough,” Joseph heard himself speaking up. “Do you want me to cut your pocket money in half?” He warned.
Ella was red in the face.
“This woman is an imposter!” Ella screamed, her fists clenching. “She’s a gold–digging imposter! She did something to the real Anna; that must be the only reason behind it. She’s insane! She needs to be stopped!!”
Anna took an uncomfortable step backward.
“I’m calling the police on this lunatic!” Ella screamed as she took out her phone.
“Ella…” Joseph low growled as fury flashed through him; he was worried he was about to lose control of James.
But at that moment, he wasn’t so sure he cared.
He was furious and confused all at the same time. He never dreamt that Anna could end up being a world–known artist. There was so much Joseph was figuring out about her and he wondered how many more things there were about her. He realized in all the 3 years they’ve been married; he didn’t know anything about her. He never bothered to get to know her.
“Ella, let’s go,” his mother said, stepping towards her.
His mother’s face was reddened, and she looked as if she had seen a ghost. She kept glancing at Anna with such dismay. Joseph could feel her discomfort and confusion. She glanced at the paintings for a moment before looking back at Anna. The artist that his mother loved so much, ended up being Anna.
“What?” Elia hissed. “I’m not leaving until she gets punished!”
Their mother grabbed onto her arm and pulled her along her side.
“We are done here,” their mother said firmly as Ella continued throwing a fuss.
Joseph rolled his eyes and turned towards Anna who was staring at him with a small frown on her face. He nearly got tongue–tied; it was an unfamiliar feeling, and he wasn’t sure he liked it. He had to try to get himself together.
“Why have you never told me you were a successful artist?” He found himself asking; his rage was nearly at its boiling point, and he had to clench and unclench his fists a bunch to calm himself. But that didn’t seem to be helping.
“Are you worthy?” She asked; her tone was calm and yet it punched him in the stomach with force.
It was a mixture between shock and hurt; his heart was mixed, and James was no help in the matter. He stared at her for a long while before attempting to speak. But just as he opened his mouth, another gentleman had joined them. He wrapped his arms around Anna and hugged her close. She didn’t hesitate to hug him back and Joseph felt a strong sensation in his stomach.
He knew the gentlemen to be Sean, another successful alpha and the one in charge of the pack festival. But he had no idea he was so close to Anna.
My beautiful Anna,” Sean breathed as he continued to hug her. “It’s time for you to be interviewed by reporters. They want to hear all about your art pieces and what your inspiration was.”
