Chapter 59
Lucian.
My darkness.
That’s what I call it. As I sit there, forced to watch the different scenes play out before me–scenes meant to break my mind even further–I can’t help but let out a dry chuckle at the absurdity of it all.
My whole life has been absurd. From my very childhood to where i stand now, everything that’s happened has been nothing short of a cruel, twisted joke.
“D–dad, please don’t do this. Please, drop the dagger” I watch as the sixteen–year–old version of me pleads with eyes filled with nothing but fear- fear of losing one more person that mattered to him:
“Don’t come any closer! Lurian, stay back right now! I can’t control it! The voices.. they’re getting too much. They’re telling me to do things to you 100, so stay back!” My father yells, the dagger trembling in his hand as he fights to hold on control.
-No! I sai
no, father, let go of the dagger and we can talk this out. Please, don’t do this to me?”
My father shakes his head at my desperate plea, tears streaming down his face, his hands shaking as he points toward my mother, lying on the ground–cold, lifeless.
“See what I did to your mother? L. I did that. I killed your mother with my own hands! It was all me, Lucian. I killed Killian and Marie too. I killed them!”
I inhale sharply and force my eyes shut, refining to look at what he’s talking about, How can I, when he’s pointing at my mother’s mutilated corpse? How can I when her last words were, “Run from him and don’t look back, Lucian. That man isn’t your father?”
Stop it I said stop it. I won’t da it I won’t kill my son, you bastard!” My father’s voice pulls me out of my daze. I take a step back, watching him clutch his head in agony, muttering words under his breath.
His eyes flash with a color that doesn’t belong to his wolf–bloody red.
My body trembles in fear, but despite that I take a step closer, I can’t lose him… I have no idea what’s happening, but I refuse to witness like I did to my mother.
“I said step back, Lucian- it’s getting worse. Run away right now, because if you don’t step back… then I will- body jerks uncontrollably, before slumping forward, his head falling back at an unnatural angle.

“Dad!” I yell, rushing to his side. My hands desperately shake his body, but before I can comprehend what’s happening, his hand grips mine, stopping me in my tracks
A deep chuckle, one that sends an icy shiver down my spine, echoes from him. I freeze in fear as he suddenly snaps his head up, startling me. His eyes–now fully red–stare at me, and a wicked grin spreads across his lips.

“Because if you don’t step back. I will kill you” He finishes his sentence, and my eyes widen as he grips the dagger tighter, pointing directly at me.
“You don’t listen to your father, Lucian,” he drawls, his grip on my hand tightening to the point where I feel like my bones might snap. But I can’t feel the pain–not when I’m staring at him in paralyzing fear. “You deserve to die for that. Your father doesn’t need a disobedient son like you”
With those words, he raises the dagger high, intending to stab me in the chest. But before he can strike, something seems to stop him in a blur, he redirects the dagger to his throar and slashes it instead
His last words are barely a whisper. “I am sorry for everything”

Chapter 59
“Damien, you have to listen!” I cry out, but he doesn’t even spare me a glance. He turns his back to me, walking away as if I’m nothing,
As I watch his retreating form, all that remains in my chest is a hollow ache. I’ve lost another person who once mattered to me.
My frown deepens as the scene plays out before me, and before I realize it, a single tear falls to the ground.
The scene changes once more, this time focusing on Elara.
“Lucian, happy birthday! I baked you your favorite cake.” Elara says with a smile, fi
holding the chocolate cake out toward me
My heart races at the sight of her, that bright, hopeful smile that seems to light up whenever she sees me. When was the last time someone remembered my birthday? When was the last time I celebrated it? I never did–there was never anything worth celebrating
*Don’t ever do this again. I do not celebrate my birthday. Don’t bother me with this useless thing next time. It pisses me off,” I lie, turning to walk
away.
“Laucian, wait! I’m sorry for bothering you, she says, running to catch up, her face flushed with embarrassment. She looks down, her voice barely a whisper. 1-1 just thought it would make you happy”
My frown deepens at her words, and I yank my hand away from her grip. “Why would you think a lousy cake and decorations would make me happy when I have more pressing matters to attend to Do you believe you’re special or something! Do not do this again, and don’t annoy me.” I hiss, walking away without looking back,
I can’t let her, or anyone, in…
Lake someone pressing a button on a remote, the scene fades to black, plunging me into complete darkness and suffocating silence.
I take a shaky breath, as an invisible force slams into me. Clutching my head, I groan as searing pain pierces through my
“Do you see that, Lucian?” a voice sncers, cold and venomous, echoing inside my mind. “No one loves you. Everyone who once cared for you.. now despises you.”
“Your parents abandoned you. Your best friend betrayed you. Even your woman left you. Why? Because you’re cursed. Because you’re unworthy of love unworthy of happiness”
I shake my head, trying to block it out, but it is impossible to ignore it
“But I can change that, Lucian, it continues, solter now, seductive. “I can grant you immeasurable power. Give me control, and you will have the world at your feet. Everyone will kneel before you. Everyone will be forced to lovr you.”
“R–really?” 1 breathe out, my voice breaking slightly. “You’ll give me power if I let you take control Everyone will come back to me?” lask narrowing my eyes as 1 push through the pain clawing at my mind,
