You will never

e Luna; you will always be a substitute,” Laora’s sinister grin widens as she stares at me, her eyes glistening with cruelty,
“You will always be in your sister’s shadow. No one will ever love you, not even your husband” my stepmother replies with another chilling laugh, and Father glares at me, the corner of his lips tilting up into a smirk.
“She is just an illegitimate daughter, the daughter of a prostitute. How could she possibly dream of becoming Luna”
“I want to reject you. You are nothing to me. My mate is back, and I need her, not you.” Lucian sneers as he throws me against the wall, staring coldly at me. He watches me without an ounce of emotion as I cry out in pain. “A bastard will give birth to a bastard child.”
“A bastard will give birth to a bastard child.” I close my ears, tears falling down my cheeks as I try to block out the words. With a dagger, Lucian stales ime in the heart. I scream as I feel myself falling into the darkness like a bottomless pit.
Without warning, a sharp gasp escapes me, my lungs burning as if deprived of air for far too long. My hands instinctively fly to my ears, and a scream rips from my throat, tears streaming down my face. I scramble in the corner, my body trembling uncontrollably with fear. I can hear voices around me, and a hand reaches out, attempting to pull me closer. But I fight against it, my screams echoing in the air, desperate and frantic.
“They killed my baby, they’re going to kill me too. All of them are going to kill me. He’s going to kill me like he killed my child,” I mutter under my breath, shrinking back.
“Miss, you’re okay, you’re fine here” someone tries in comfort me, attempting to hug me and pull me closer, but I push them roughly away, my eyes locking on the woman who looks a bit frightened.
“I don’t want to be Luna. Why don’t you all just leave me alone! I never wanted to be Luru. lost my child?” I ask my body trembling with fear, my gaze fixed on the woman
What did I ever do that was so wrong–so wrong that T
ich happens to be a pillow, at her.
“You didn’t do anything wrong” she says as she inches closer, but I move back, throwing anything I can find, which
“Don’t come closer 1 yell, standing up from the bed. But a strangled cry escapes my lips as my left foot burns with excruciating pain, and my vision blurs. Still, I manage to limp toward the door. I need to run away, away from Lucian, and away from everyone who wants me dead.
Before I can open the door, two men in black suits rush in, their eyes narrowing as they look at me like Im a threat. “Mrs Martha, are you okay!” one of them asks the woman. but before anyone can react, my hands are already reaching for the small pocket knife on the table.
“S–stay away! Did Lurian tell you to kill me? Did he?” I scream, holding the knife at them with trembling hands, the tears refusing to stop falling
“Calm down, Miss. No one here will hurt you. You’re not well. If you stress your body like this, it will be bad for your health,” the woman says, walking toward me slowly, her hands our stretched in an attempt to calm me, but I shake my head.
“They all want me dead, every one of them. Even my husband wants me dead” I cry harder, backing away from her.
“You are safe, I swear to the moon goddess. Nothing bad will happen to you,” she says, stopping the men from coming clover to me
I shake my head and take a deep breath. “I have no reason to live anymore. I’m tired of everything. I just want all the pain to stop. The moment ! speak those words, I shift the edge of the knife, intending to slash my neck. But before I can feel any pain, someone grabs the knife with a tight
grip.
My eyes immediately fly open, and I suck in a deep breath as I stare at the man with the deepest shade of gray in his eyes. He looks enchanting. almost beautiful, even more beautiful than any woman I’ve ever seen, but then he has that lean muscular charm to him–a charm that draws me. almost like a spell. An intoxicating pull tugs me toward him, and I have to take in a shaky breath to finally snap out of the daze.
“Oh goddess, Damien, you’re bleeding,” I hear a sharp gasp behind him, and I look at the blood dripping from the knife I was holding. Two things shake me one, the fact that I’ve injured a man, and the second, that the man is none other than Alpha Dunien.
1 gasp and quickly let go of the knife, watching as Damien throws it away and frowns at his bloodied hand. When his gaze turns toward me. I feel unable to breathe.
He steps closer, his presence lowering over me. I continue to retreat, my steps faltering, but before I can react, I’m suddenly off balance. In a swift © motion, he wraps his arms around my waist, drawing me tightly against him.
“1—1—“I want to apologize: 1 didn’t mean to slash his hand, but he suddenly appeared before me before I ran react
He tilis his head and smiles coldly, a smile that will make any woman weak in the knees, yet it sends a chilling shower down my spine. The words I’m about to speak escape as a breathless gasp.
