I stretched lazily as I got out of bed, seeing breakfast and my tablet laid out on the table, along with my favorite pan–fried buns.
My three brothers were staring at me with wry smiles, sighing slightly.
“We’ve really raised an ungrateful brat. Only knows how to make coffee for second brother, completely forgetting about us.”
I laughed awkwardly and glanced at the man perusing the financial news. I pushed the coffee towards him.
The man looked utterly unperturbed, barely glancing at me as he pushed the coffee away.
“Not drinking it. You probably poisoned it.”
I instantly deflated. Of the four brothers, Lucas was always the hardest to deal with.
Of the four, he was the only one not born to my mother. Yet ironically, he was the most successful.
After my mother passed away, they all became deeply disappointed in my father and left home, taking my mother’s surname.

The man behind the newspaper finally looked up, his lips curling in amusement.

Everyone thought Aiden had gone mad. I watched expressionlessly before turning off the TV.
My three brothers sensed my mood and came over to comfort me, but I was truly fine.
Whatever he did had nothing to do with me anymore.
Lucas had been staying home the past few days. Seeing me eat less and less, his face instantly darkened.

Before I could answer, he dragged me into the car. I was surrounded by four men with icy expressions. People at the hospital gave us a wide berth.

I was forced to undergo a full body exam. While waiting for the rushed results, a familiar figure caught my eye.

That familiar voice made my face turn ashen.
Aiden stumbled over in a rush, his eyes full of joy.
But before he could touch even the hem of my clothes, my four brothers blocked him.
“Who are you and why are you approaching my sister? I’m warning you to stay away from her.”

I took a deep breath and looked at him with tear–filled eyes.
“You’ve got the wrong person. I really don’t know you. My name is… Lucy Lou. I’m not the Chloe you’re talking about.
I ignored Lucas’s suddenly darkening expression and pinched my snickering third brother hard.
Aiden stood frozen, his face deathly pale and full of disbelief.

As he spoke, he tried to pull me away, but Lucas grabbed his wrist in an iron grip.
I heard a sickening crack of breaking bone.

It was my first time seeing him like this.
I yanked my arm away from Aiden forcefully, looking at him coldly.
“I really don’t know you. If you keep harassing me, I’ll call the police!”
But he still wouldn’t give up. He fell to his knees in front of me with a thud.
“Chloe, I’m begging you to give me one more chance. We’ve both been reborn. We’re meant to be together.”

I raised my hand and slapped him hard across the face.
“You must have lost your mind. You should be sent to a mental hospital!”
My cold, merciless gaze pierced him to the core. He doubled over in pain.
I took the opportunity to grab Lucas’s hand and planted a loud kiss on his cheek.
