“Did you see that clearly? This is the man I like. I would never be interested in someone like you!”
After I spoke, the scene went deathly quiet. I turned my head to see all four brothers staring at me in shock, with a hint of gossipy interest.
By then, the test results had come back. Lucas’s face turned stormy as he read them. I shrank back in fear.
Just as I was about to speak, Aiden stepped forward with a worried expression.
“Chloe, are you sick? My blood can cure any illness. I’ll give you all of it.”
This time I didn’t even look at him as I tossed out a single word: “Disgusting.”
Lucas had grown impatient and threw me over his shoulder as he left.
My other three brothers made faces at Aiden before following.
Back home, my third brother clicked his tongue a few times before he couldn’t help teasing:
“Little sis, your taste in men is terrible. That type won’t last long.”
Indeed, I had made a huge mistake.
In my past life, he truly loved me. But how much of that love was genuine? How could I have rashly entrusted my whole life to him?
I opened my phone to find hundreds of messages from my father, sending four or five every day.
¡ read through half before slowly closing it.
My brothers and I couldn’t say we hated him. There would always be a barrier between us.
Perhaps he really did love us and mom. He just showed it in the wrong way.
The next day I ran into Aiden again. More accurately, he was waiting for me.
I walked right past him, but he grabbed my arm.
“Chloe…”
Hearing this, I frowned deeply and yanked my arm away angrily.
“I told you I’m not Chloe! You want me to be your replacement? Dream on!”
I didn’t expect him to be so fragile.
He collapsed like a kite with cut strings. His face was deathly pale, as if he had aged a decade.

He collapsed like a kite with cut strings. His face was deathly pale, as if he had aged a decade.
I looked at him and scoffed, “Trying to guilt trip me? Or make me feel sorry for you!”
His eyes instantly reddened. He opened his mouth but no words came out.
I didn’t spare him another glance as I walked away, a lollipop in my mouth.
Aiden stood there in a daze. Could she really not be Chloe?
Her mannerisms were completely different, but she had Chloe’s shadow about her.
The nightclub was dazzling, the flashing lights blinding.
After a few drinks, I was tipsy. A pair of hands landed on my shoulders and I turned around with bleary eyes.
I just felt the man before me had an icy aura. I shuddered.
“Chloe, come home with me!”
I pushed his hands away. “Who are you?”
“I’m your brother!”
“No, you’re not my brother. You don’t want to be my brother…”
I gazed at him hazily. Lucas froze at my words, his eyes full of disbelief.
“Chloe, you…”
¡ suddenly kissed his cold lips. His eyes widened in shock. When he came to his senses, he tried to push me away, but I didn’t budge.
“Chloe, you made the first move. Don’t regret this…”
The real reason I had fallen out with my father was that I had overheard him talking to Lucas, Father knew about his feelings for me.
He wanted to send Lucas away, never letting him see me again.
But Lucas chose to leave on his own. I happened to hear this conversation.
Lucas meant so much to me back then.
I refused to follow my father’s arrangements, developing a rebellious attitude.
The reactions of my three brothers further confirmed my suspicions from back then. A
“Lucas, let’s be together.” Even if just to try.
The usually aloof man before me suddenly had tears in his eyes.
